Flavor Flav knows all about flavor and his new title just further proves that.
As the very first "Flavor Genie" for Smartfood Popcorn, the iconic rapper and legendary hype man is helping to spread positive affirmations for good decision-making and snacking.
Flav recently sat down for a high-energy chat with The Blast to share information about his new partnership with Smartfood Popcorn, as well as how his Olympic experience was and plans for the 2028 Olympics, and why being a hype man is so important to him.
Flavor Flav Can Now Add 'Flavor Genie' To His Resume
Because of his hype man status, Flavor Flav, 65, can now add a new title to his resume - "Flavor Genie."
The rapper recently partnered with Smartfood Popcorn to help spread some hype about the delicious snack option in only a way Flav can do.
“When it comes down to flavor, I feel that there’s no other better person to represent a flavor than Flavor Flav. I feel that there’s no better representation to get these flavors out to the world than Flavor Flav,” he told The Blast exclusively. “And now I am your official 'Flavor Genie.'”
When asked if he has a favorite flavor, he explained that he likes them all!
“I like that white cheddar. It’s the bomb, you know what I’m saying?” he expressed. “But then, the movie theater butter, you know, when you eat that it makes you feel like you’re in the movies, like back in the day. It reminds me of being a kid again in the movies.”
He also explained that he likes sweet and salty, too, because it makes his “taste buds explode.” And let's not forget about the Doritos flavor.
“I love Doritos, so to taste a Doritos flavor on popcorn is incredibly crazy. But it’s good, I love it,” he said. “But there was a time when I took a little bit of each in my hand and popped it all in my mouth at the same time. Boy, that taste was incredible.”
The Ultimate Hype Man!
It’s no secret that Flav prides himself on how he hypes people up everywhere he goes. He recently took that high magnetic energy to Paris to hype up the women’s water polo team.
“You want people to have energy. You want people to have fun, the whole nine. You want to hype them up and bring them into the moment. A lot of people that’s not really having fun, I don’t call them being in the moment. Being in the moment is fun,” he told The Blast.
“Back in the day, we used to do our parties, and the music is really banging, but the people are just sitting down and sitting around. Nobody’s on the dance floor, and you want everybody to come on, wake up, man. It’s important for me to hype people up because I want people to be energetic like me.”
Being A Hype Man At The Paris Olympics
Flav said that one of the most amazing moments in his life was hyping up the U.S. women's water polo team in Paris. He said they work so hard and he wanted to “step up to the plate” to try to help hype up the team.
“They got three back-to-back gold medals. I would love to see them really make history and get that fourth gold medal, so I said to myself, why not step up to the plate, man? Help these girls out to see if we can push them in that direction of getting that fourth gold medal. So that was my purpose of supporting the water polo team and being over in Paris trying to be their hype man,” he explained.
“Even though my girls finished fourth this year, it’s okay, because there’s always more competitions and games to come. They did a great job this year. I commend the girls and the guys too. I commend them all.”
He also explained that water polo is one of the hardest sports to play because “all you’re doing is just treading water.”
“I jumped in the water for seven minutes with these girls. They let me try it,” he said. “I ain’t gonna lie, it was one of the hardest seven minutes I’ve ever had in my life. And I got lucky and scored two goals on this one.”
Flavor Flav Put His Bid In For The 2028 Los Angeles Olympics
After seeing how amazing Snoop Dogg’s experience was as an Olympic torchbearer in Paris, Flav would love for it to be his turn for the role in 2028 in Los Angeles.
Not only is he planning to attend the Olympic games in LA, but he also hopes to carry the torch.
“Definitely, you’re going to see me in LA in 2028. I already got my 28 big ready,” he told The Blast. “I got my LA 28 shirt already. I’m ready. 2028, I’m ready. We ready for that.”
