Fans in the U.S. and Canada will not get to see Paula Abdul perform anytime soon following recent injuries.
The multi-hyphenate star announced the cancellation of her upcoming tour dates in a lengthy statement, revealing she has been down for some time. She not only needs rest but also a procedure to regain her health.
Paula Abdul's health scare comes months after she sued "So You Think You Can Dance" ex-judge Nigel Lythgoe for sexual assault.
Paula Abdul Says She Is Physically Unable To Go On Tour
Although she is famous for her vocals and dance moves, it seems bringing the same level of performances she did in her prime is too much for Abdul's body to handle. The 62-year-old revealed on Instagram that she was physically unable to continue her tour, writing:
"It's with an incredibly heavy heart that I need to share with you an update regarding some injuries I've recently sustained."
"In an effort to keep going, I've received targeted injections that will allow me temporary relief, but the demands of an entire tour is a different story," Abdul continued. After multiple consultations and exploring other options, she revealed:
"I've been advised that one of my injuries requires a minor procedure followed by a 6-8 week recovery time. Therefore, it will prohibit me from proceeding with the Straight Up! To Canada Tour as well as the dates in Alaska and North Dakota."
Abdul Implores Fans For Their Patience And Understanding

Abdul continued her message apologetically, stressing that it broke her heart to be unable to deliver the performances fans expected. "I've been looking forward to the energy, love, and connection we always share when we're together," she claimed.
"I promise I'll be back, stronger and better, dancing my heart out and performing for all of you very soon to give you the show you deserve," Abdul continued, imploring them for patience and understanding amid her health issues.
She also assured Canada and US fans that refunds for their tickets would be available at their point of purchase before signing off with her love and gratitude. Pleading for understanding was unnecessary, as the comment section was filled with positive reactions.
Fans Wish Abdul A Speedy Recovery
Abdul's health update received hundreds of well-wishes from concerned fans, who assured her they weren't disappointed. "I'm so sorry Queen! Praying for a healthy and speedy recovery. Sending you lots and lots of love!" someone penned.
"Oh no! So sorry to hear it, Paula! I hope you feel better soon and get the rest you need," another echoed, while a third chimed: "That's a tough spot, Paula. Prioritize you, and I will be first in line for whatever you do next."
The love and support for Abdul continued, with an IG user writing: "Love you. When you are ready, I'll be there with front-row tickets in hand. Praying for a safe procedure and a speedy recovery!" A fellow supporter added:
"Strongest leader!!!! Sending all my love for this process, and can't wait till we share the stage again."
Inside Abdul's Sexual Assault Drama With Nigel Lythgoe
Nearly a year before her health update, The Blast reported that Abdul sued her former boss, Nigel Lythgoe, for sexual assault. In December 2023, she alleged he "verbally insulted and belittled" her multiple times before the unconsented incident.
The 62-year-old claimed Lythgoe sexually assaulted her during one of the earlier seasons of "American Idol." She alleged the incident happened while they were in an elevator, noting:
"Lythgoe shoved Abdul against the wall, then grabbed her genitals and breasts, and began shoving his tongue down her throat."
Following her lawsuit, Lythgoe bashed Abdul's claims as false and shared some of their private emails to back his innocence. However, she fired back by accusing him of "victim shaming."
Paula Abdul Slams Former Boss For Leaking Private Emails
Less than 24 hours after Lythgoe released the emails, Abdul vehemently slammed his actions through her attorney, claiming: "Mr. Lythgoe's answer to Ms. Abdul's complaint is classic victim shaming."
Abdul's attorney claimed she had no choice but to appease Lythgoe's ego with "positive messaging and seeming adoration" because he held all the cards to her career. The legal rep continued:
"While Mr. Lythgoe's answer cherry-picks from years of messages with Ms. Abdul to try to discredit her claims, what his selections fail to show are the numerous instances of overt sexual harassment he forced Ms. Abdul to tolerate."
Paula Abdul's legal drama is still ongoing, but it did not stop her from touring until her recent health scare.
