Prince Philip earthly journey came to an end on April 9, 2021. leaving the royal household in a devastating state. Otherwise known as the Duke of Edinburgh and husband of Queen Elizabeth II, the prince was an incredible and loyal royal consort.
He served as the third longest-living member of the royal family after Prince Alice, Duchess of Gloucester and Queen Elizabeth (the Queen mother.)
Although during his lifetime, he mostly kept to himself, the prince was still a loved and appreciated member of the royal family.
He Raised A Beautiful Family
Marrying into the royal family is very challenging, especially when you are faced with customs and rules that will guide you for the rest of your life.
However, Prince Philip got married to Queen Elizabeth II and built a beautiful family with her. He is survived by his wife, four children, eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
The former British Army member would be remembered in royal British history not only for his acts of service, but for his dedication the royal household and his country at large.
A Beautiful Love Story
Prince Philip was born to Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark and Princess Alice of Battenberg on June 10, 1921.
In 1939, the Queen’s father and mother went on a tour to the Royal Naval College. While they were there, Queen Elizabeth II, who was 13 years old at the time, met and fell in love with him, even though he was her third cousin.
Years later the prince summoned courage to ask King George VI for her hand in marriage and his request was granted. The duo later married and had four beautiful kids.
Recent Illness & Hospitalization
In mid-February 2021, BBC News reported that the prince was taken to the hospital on a Tuesday evening, for an undisclosed reason. The tabloid also reported that the visit to the hospital was “as a precautionary measure.”
A source disclosed that the prince was not feeling well and decided to check in with the hospital.
Although there was no cause for alarm, fans were disturbed by the sudden visit to the hospital and others claimed that if it wasn’t anything serious, the doctor would have been called to the palace to run a check up.
Death Announcement
On Friday morning, Prince Philip died at Windsor Castle and this news was first reported through the royal family’s website and social media pages.
Also, an official death notice was erupted at Buckingham Palace gate, to notify everyone that one of the most important members of the royal family has passed away.
Following his death, an operation called “Forth Bridge” was enacted and it includes specific instructions from the prince that his funeral proceeding, should not be dramatic.
the royal family is yet to reveal the cause of death, but at this point, fans are thankful that the prince lived a long and happy life.
