Prince Harry reportedly remains determined to avoid royal duties unless he receives an apology from his estranged brother, Prince William.

However, the Duke of Sussex might consider a temporary royal role if requested by King Charles III, who is reportedly open to reconciliation.

Prince Harry has also reportedly distanced himself from Hollywood publicists and is now seeking advice from former aides.

According to the Daily Mail, the Duke of Sussex has indicated that he might consider taking on a temporary role within the Royal Family if his father personally requested his assistance.

Last week, William and Harry attended the funeral of their uncle, Robert Fellowes. However, witnesses reported that the brothers did not interact during the service.

Harry and William reportedly arrived quietly, blending in with the other mourners so that their presence was barely noticed. However, they did not interact with each other.

Despite his feud with his brother, Harry's friends, speaking to the publication, have suggested that he is open to mending his relationship with his father, especially considering Charles' health concerns amid a cancer battle.

However, they noted that Harry would still seek an apology from William before considering any formal role within the royal family.

The publication previously claimed that William has ruled out the possibility of welcoming Harry back into the fold, particularly after the release of his memoir, "Spare."

In the book, Harry made several pointed accusations against members of the Royal Family, including claims that William physically assaulted him during a disagreement about Meghan.

He also recounted a tense confrontation with both William and Charles following Prince Philip's funeral, accusing them of "looking for a fight."

The memoir further portrays William as Harry's "arch-nemesis" and depicts Queen Consort Camilla as a "wicked stepmother," while Charles is described as an emotionally detached and ineffective figure.

The Brothers' Funeral Encounter Hints They May Never Mend The Rift Between Them

Former BBC royal correspondent Michael Cole shared his thoughts on William and Harry's snub of each other at Fellowes' funeral service, saying that a "reconciliation may never happen" as the Prince of Wales is most "likely" hurt by his younger brother's "betrayals and snipes."

Cole, who didn't attend the service himself, reflected on what locals shared about the lack of a reunion between the feuding siblings, who have reportedly not spoken to each other in over two years.

He also noted that William and Harry "sat apart" and "did not look at each other," acknowledging how eyewitnesses described the "atmosphere" around them as being fairly "frosty."

"If Prince Harry imagined that this secret dash and sudden appearance might start to thaw the ice cap that has frozen between them, he was going to be greatly disappointed," Cole told the Daily Mail. "Prince William did not look at him, let alone acknowledge his presence."

Cole further pondered the interaction between the future king and the Duke of Sussex, lamenting that their talks "were not just minimal, they were invisible."

"This was not a happy meeting of two brothers who, as boys, could not have been closer," the royal expert said. "This was no reunion. They sat apart and did not look at each other. On a sunny day, the atmosphere around the two brothers was frosty, said one mourner."

Cole added, "As things are at present, reconciliation may never happen, such is the hurt Prince William feels at his brother's betrayals and snipes in interviews, a television series, and his ghost-written book 'Spare,' the biggest-selling 'autobiography' ever published."

This comes after the Daily Mail claimed that Harry has distanced himself from his "Hollywood publicists" and has begun reaching out to former aides for advice on how to navigate a possible return from his life in the U.S.

The news outlet also disclosed that Harry and Meghan have parted ways with yet another American PR adviser, Christine Weil Schirmer.

Schirmer joined the couple as their head of communications in 2020 before she quietly stepped down late last year. She is the tenth staff member to leave the Sussexes in the last three years.

Additionally, it was revealed last month that the Sussexes' chief of staff, Josh Kettler, abruptly resigned after just three months in the position.

A source close to the situation shared, "Harry is turning away from all sorts of Hollywood publicists and is seeking counsel from his old friends and associates. He is clearly reaching out thinking, 'I need to do something different because what I'm doing is clearly not working'. In short, he is rethinking the way he operates."

However, insiders emphasize that Harry and Meghan, who have lived in California for the past four years with their two children, are not looking to permanently move back to the U.K.
