Ben Affleck And Jennifer Lopez At Risk Of Losing $25M On Sale Of Their Marital Mansion

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez may face a significant financial loss on their $68 million Beverly Hills mansion, which is considered overpriced and poorly located.
The property, purchased in 2023 for $60.8 million, has been criticized for its flashy design and high upkeep costs.
Jennifer Lopez recently filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, marking her fourth failed marriage. Before tying the knot, the former couple had no prenup, so major assets are at stake.
Ben Affleck And Jennifer Lopez Risk Major Loss on Overpriced $68M Beverly Hills Mansion
According to a West Coast real estate investor speaking with Paula Froelich of NewsNation, Affleck and Lopez may face a significant financial loss on their Beverly Hills mansion, currently listed for $68 million, as it's considered overpriced and poorly located.
"That house is actually worth between $40 and $50 million," Froelich said, per the New York Post.
The investor criticized the 12-bedroom, 24-bathroom mansion: "It's in a terrible location. Wallingford Estates is a gated community with no guard. Most homes in the area are from the 1970s and are worth between $5 to $10 million. This is just a huge white elephant. It's garish, too big, and dated with amenities that are just silly and not necessary (like an indoor sports complex)."
Affleck and Lopez purchased the 5-acre estate in 2023 for just over $60.8 million, but it has been on the market for nearly two months now.
Describing the house, which was originally built in 2001, an insider noted: "The house is ugly. It was built in 2001 by a mediocre developer with just bad taste in architecture … it's a mish-mosh of styles with a faux French roof."
The source continued: "When it was built, it sat on the market for years and was listed at $100 million, so maybe [Affleck and Lopez] thought they got a deal for buying it at $61 million. But remember, they also put millions into renovating it to their tastes."
The Estranged Couple's $68M Estate Comes With A Huge Tax Burden
The extravagant estate, complete with a 12-car garage, boxing ring, and pickleball court, also carries a hefty tax burden.
According to the insider, "the property taxes alone on that house are $762,000 a year — and another $750,000 to insure it and maintain it. So, whoever buys it, they're out at least $1.5 million per year just to keep the lights on."
Per the New York Post, Affleck and Lopez are also set to lose at least 10% of the sale proceeds due to California's mansion tax and realtor fees.
As the source put it, "It's a big, flawed diamond. People with that kind of money would rather spend $10 million on a (smaller) perfect diamond, rather than dropping $5 million on a huge diamond with visible flaws."
Friends Urge Jennifer Lopez To Self-Reflect After Fourth Divorce
Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck on August 20 without legal representation, coinciding with the anniversary of their second wedding in Georgia.
Legal documents reveal that the actress had listed their separation date as April 26, 2024. According to the filing, the couple did not sign a prenuptial agreement before their July 2022 wedding.
Due to this being her fourth divorce, Lopez's friends have reportedly expressed concern over her turbulent romantic life.
A source close to "The On The Floor" hitmaker told the Daily Mail that those in her inner circle are urging her to reflect on herself after yet another failed marriage.
"After four failed marriages, her friends feel that she should take a look inside and focus on herself instead of what others want her to be and finally figure out who she is and what she wants from her future," the insider shared.
The Singer Made Sure Ben Affleck Had 'Everything He Needed'
Amid Lopez and Affleck's continued silence about their ongoing divorce, sources close to the "Atlas" star have revealed how much she was committed to being the best partner during their two-year marriage.
According to People Magazine, the "Shotgun Wedding" actress spent a "lot of time making sure" Affleck was "happy."
This included ensuring that he had "everything he needed" and even caring for him in an almost "childlike" way.
However, despite her immense commitments, Lopez still had to deal with Affleck being "very moody and dark at times," which seemingly contrasted with her more upbeat way of living.
This personality from Affleck hung like a dark cloud over their relationship, and at some point, Lopez's friends had to constantly remind her that "she's not responsible for his feelings."
Jennifer Lopez Enjoys Labor Day Weekend With Friends, Promotes Delola In Stylish Workout Look
Lopez attempted to shake off her divorce from Affleck by enjoying cocktails with friends as she kicked off Labor Day weekend.
The "Atlas" actress shared an Instagram video showing herself sipping drinks and playing pickleball, which she described in the caption as "the ultimate holiday weekend combo."
In the video, the 55-year-old is seen promoting her Delola brand while pouring drinks for her friends.
Lopez flaunted her fit figure in a baby blue workout ensemble. She rocked a semi-sheer sports bra over a triangle top paired with high-waisted leggings. The singer completed her look with white sneakers for the leisurely day.
Lopez styled her brunette hair in loose pigtails to keep it out of her face and sported a glowing makeup look, featuring lots of rosy blush for a sun-kissed effect. She accessorized with oversized brown-tinted sunglasses, gold hoop earrings, and a matching chain-link bracelet.
