Tory Compares His Music To Bob Marley’s In Terms Of Impact
One topic discussed was if Tory envisioned him being where he is today. He explained that he always knew he would experience what he is now in his career. Tory also says he wants people to recognize his artistry. He wants to perform in front of crowds such as DMX at Woodstock and also end wars with his music like Bob Marley.
"You ever seen that meme of DMX on the stage performing to the whole world? He’s performing to a million people, that’s how I feel. I’m going to stop wars with my music like how Bob Marley did. I’m going to do certain things that are so above and beyond other artists."
Tory Discusses Working With Chris Brown
Tory also featured Chris Brown on his new "Playboy" album last month as he was the only guest artist there. In the discussion with Flaunt, Tory said that the two recorded their "Feels" song in Mexico.
"He had called me and told me he was out there, I said ‘I’ma pull up.’ I pull up out there, and we spent a couple days vibing, being away from America for a little bit. We recorded it out there, it was a vibe. Everything was good, everything seemed to transcend the right way. The energy was good, the vibe was good, the music was good, the beat was great."
Tory Reminisces On Overcoming Homelessness
Tory also mentioned how he had to overcome homelessness when he was younger. Among the places he had to lay his head at at night were cars, park benches, under slides, under bridges. He kept pushing though and now, he is one of the most notable stars in hip-hop and R&B. Just last year, he was able to hit No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart with his "The New Toronto 3" mixtape, which was a trending topic on social media immediately after its release.

Tory Has A Reggae Album Coming This Summer
Since December, Tory has released a rap album, an R&B album, and this summer, a reggae album will be arriving as well. He explained that his family's background is an inspiration behind this forthcoming project.
"I’ve always been very island-oriented. My mom’s from Curaçao, which is Dutch, right outside of Guyana. All the rest of my family is Guyanese. My dad’s family is from Barbados, the same place Rihanna is from. What a lot of people don’t know is my grandfather is Garfield Sobers—he’s one of the best cricket players in the world. I come from a long line of greatness that stems from the islands. I’ve always wanted to make sure that, no matter what I do, I’m paying certain respects to my ancestors and ancestry. Showing certain love in reminding people where I come from. I’ll never forget where I come from. "
