The "Forrest Gump" star issued a public service announcement on his Instagram page, sharing a statement refuting all advertisements that did not come directly from his platform. He slammed the AI promotions, writing:

"There are multiple ads over the internet falsely using my name, likeness, and voice promoting miracle cures and wonder drugs. These ads have been created without my consent, fraudulently, and through AI."

Hanks' AI Likeness Was Used In A Dental Advertisement

Hanks was forced to shut down the use of his AI likeness in October 2023 after a dental service created a false ad. The Blast noted he shared a screenshot of the computer-generated video on Instagram, which showcased a younger version of himself.

"BEWARE!! There's a video out there promoting some dental plan with an AI version of me. I have nothing to do with it," the entertainer warned fans. His post came months after he discussed the potential and dangers of AI.

During an appearance on "The Adam Buxton Podcast," Hanks revealed industry guilds, agencies, and law firms were addressing the legal complexities associated with using an actor's likeness and voice as their intellectual property.

The Hollywood Veteran Considered Immortalizing His Performances

Hanks noted that the discussions about the evolving role of AI in the film industry were meaningful, especially the rights to use an entertainer's image. He saw it as an opportunity to immortalize his legacy as an actor, saying:

"What is a bona fide possibility right now, if I wanted to, I could get together and pitch a series of seven movies that would star me in them in which I would be 32 years old from now until kingdom come."

"I could be hit by a bus tomorrow, and that's it, but performances can go on and on and on and on," Hanks said. However, he hoped his AI-generated likeness and voice in movies would only be used with his consent.

Hanks' LA Estate Was Burglarized In Broad Daylight

The unapproved use of his AI likeness isn't Hanks's only problem this month, with The Blast reporting his LA estate was robbed. Weeks earlier, the actor and his wife, Rita Wilson, got hit by thieves while they weren't at home.

The culprits accessed the duo's estate by smashing the glass to their guest house. Fortunately, unlike the other robberies that have happened to celebrities, these thieves couldn't access Hanks and Wilson's primary home.

The home invasion happened in broad daylight, with insiders claiming the famous couple weren't targeted. Instead, the incident appeared to be the work of one of the many crews in the LA area that were burglarizing at will.

Despite owning multiple homes in Malibu, California, Sun Valley, Idaho, and Greece, Hanks and Wilson chose the Pacific Palisades mansion as their primary residence. They reportedly purchased the luxurious property for $26 million in 2010.

The hilltop estate, built in 1996, was previously owned by Hollywood producers Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall. Its interior boasts an enormous 14,513 square feet, three stories, four bedrooms, and five bathrooms.

Each floor had a unique and spacious balcony with a beautiful view, plus modern decorations like pristine white walls and polished wooden flooring. It also featured a massive wine cellar, a cliffside swimming pool, and a relaxing deck area.

With a successful career and many luxuries at his disposal, it is unsurprising that brands are trying to get consumers by riding on Tom Hanks' coattails with AI.
