Artem Chigvintsev, a professional dancer on "Dancing With The Stars," was arrested on Thursday in Napa, California, facing felony domestic violence charges.
As The Blast reported, the 42-year-old Russian dancer has been charged with felony corporal injury to a spouse. While the specific details of the incident were initially unclear, the reference to "spouse" strongly implies that the victim is his wife, Nikki Garcia, who is known for her time in the WWE as Nikki Bella of The Bella Twins.
Now, new details are surfacing surrounding the incident, including the release of a 911 call which suggested that Nikki Garcia "threw shoes" at Artem Chigvintsev during the alleged fight.
911 Call Reveals More Details Surrounding Moments Leading To Artem Chigvintsev's Arrest
Garcia and Chigvintsev, who have been married since 2022 and recently celebrated their wedding anniversary, allegedly got into a fight, prompting the 911 call to be made.
The radio dispatch from Chigvintsev’s domestic violence case has shed new light on the situation. According to the call, obtained by TMZ, Chigvintsev initially requested medical assistance but also mentioned that his wife, Nikki Garcia, had thrown shoes at him.
"Initially came in as requesting medical, but now he is stating he got into an argument with his wife and his wife threw shoes at rp [reporting party]," the dispatcher said.
"There is a child on scene. Medical en route," they added. "There's an active 415 [disturbing the peace] in the background responsible."
Artem later called the paramedics off, which the 911 dispatcher confirmed, saying, "RP is stating no medical is needed now."
Police Show Up And Find Visible Injuries On Alleged Victim
At the time of the call, the dispatcher noted that Chigvintsev and Garcia were physically separated.
Despite the separation, police arrived an hour later, observed visible injuries on the alleged victim, and subsequently arrested Chigvintsev on charges of felony corporal injury to a spouse.
Chigvintsev and Garcia were partners on season 25 of "Dancing with the Stars," while Garcia was dating John Cena. After the two split, Garcia began dating Chigvintsev, and they got married in 2022.
They just celebrated their anniversary. "This song is our love story. I'll never forget where I was when I asked Jesus about Artem. Having a conversation with He & God. How my feelings felt too soon. It all felt too fast," the former WWE star wrote on Instagram a few days ago. "And then this song came on. And that's when I knew that I was falling in love with him and that it was all meant to be."
Artem Chigvintsev Taken Into Custody, But Made Bail
The Napa County Sheriff's Department has shared Chigvintsev's mugshot and informed ABC News about a domestic violence call they received from Yountville around 10 a.m. Deputies responded promptly, arresting Chigvintsev, who they reported "did not resist arrest." He was taken to Napa County Jail on suspicion of domestic violence.
Following his bail, Chigvintsev was released around 2:15 p.m. PT and is no longer in custody. Deputies described him as "cooperative in the process."
The Sheriff's department has yet to reveal the identity of the alleged victim but mentioned they are giving the person "adequate time to deal with what unfolded before making the person talk more to detectives."
Artem Chigvintsev Is Known For His Time On 'DWTS'
The Russian dancer made his debut on "Dancing With The Stars" and clinched the Mirrorball Trophy in Season 29 alongside "Bachelorette" alum Kaitlyn Bristowe. Most recently, he competed with "Bachelorette" star Charity Lawson in Season 32, where they achieved a fourth-place finish.
In 2020, Garcia disclosed that her husband’s mental health was notably affected when he was sidelined from "Dancing With The Stars" for a season.
"This past year was really tough on him, and it was also tough on our relationship because Artem was fighting depression," she said on "The Bellas Podcast," per USA Today. "He was really depressed being cut, and it was really hard for him to get past it. And he then finally found a job right before COVID hit, then he lost it, and then it brought that depression back of not being a part of 'Dancing With the Stars.'"

Garcia and Chigvintsev share a 4-year-old son, Matteo Artemovich. "It’s something I’ve dreamed of my whole life,” she told People Magazine at the time of her pregnancy announcement. “I can’t imagine life without being a mom and experiencing the miracle of life and raising a child. I’m just so family-oriented that I couldn’t imagine not having that family life.”
