Braun's playful reaction to Swift's party was a significant step forward compared to his previous feelings about their strained relationship. The Blast noted his "regret" over the incident in a 2022 interview.

According to Braun, he purchased the music catalog of several artists, including Swift, when he acquired Big Machine Records. He couldn't discuss the deal with anyone because of a "very strict NDA;" however, he believed these singers would trust him.

"So when we finalized the deal, I started making phone calls to say, hey, I'm a part of this. And before I could even do that – I made four phone calls; I started to do those phone calls – all hell broke loose," he recalled.

Braun stressed that his biggest "regret" was assuming that "everyone, once the deal was done, was going to have a conversation with me, see my intent, see my character and say, great, let's be in business together."

As stated, Swift did not handle the news of Braun's purchase positively and slammed him in a scathing Tumblr post. She accused him of "incessant, manipulative bullying" that allegedly went on for years.

"When I left my masters in Scott [Borchetta's] hands, I made peace with the fact that eventually he would sell them. Never in my worst nightmares did I imagine the buyer would be Scooter," Swift's message partly read, adding:

"He knew what he was doing; they both did. Controlling a woman who didn't want to be associated with them. In perpetuity. That means forever."

Swift declared her future wouldn't be in Braun's hands and proved it by re-recording her first six albums. She titled each project "Taylor's Version," reclaiming her rights to the music catalog while pulling off the most iconic revenge scheme.

"I came to the realization that my kids were 3 superstars I wasn't willing to lose. The sacrifices I was once willing to make I could no longer justify. It was time to step into a new role," he explained, announcing his status as the CEO of HYBE-America.
