Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's highly publicized fairytale marriage is over, and it's now time to point fingers and deduce what caused the couple's second go at romance to end.

According to a recent report, Affleck's mood swings contributed to the failure of his union with Lopez just two years after they tied the knot in a high-profile Georgia wedding.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez separated in April, despite the singer only recently filing for divorce.

After months of speculation, it is clear that Lopez and Affleck's high-profile marriage has hit the rocks, as seen by the "Atlas" star's decision to file for divorce.

Officially, their split is attributed to "irreconcilable differences." However, a source close to the couple suggests that one major factor was Affleck's tendency to have "mood swings."

Describing the situation, the insider told People Magazine that the "Accountant" star frequently experienced "big highs," which were often followed by "big lows."

After a while, it became clear that "who he said he was and who he turned out to be were two different people."

Another insider claimed that this apparent character flaw not only consistently undermined his relationship with Lopez but also strained his connections with others close to him.

"He doesn't understand how his bad mood affects people around him," said the insider about Affleck.

On the divorce documents, Lopez filed in court, the date of separation was listed as April 26. It revealed that while many were speculating about trouble in her marriage for months, she and Affleck had already called it quits.

However, one lingering question was why it took so long for Lopez to file for divorce. Sources now suggest that she delayed the process in the hope of a possible reconciliation, but ultimately, that did not happen.

"She tried really hard to make things work," a source shared about the actress, while another said that Affleck was not giving "any signs that he wants to continue their marriage" and that "it got to the point that Lopez had to "look out for herself."

While the duo has not publicly addressed these speculations or their divorce yet, Affleck's decision to move out of their $68 million Beverly Hills mansions to a rental and his subsequent purchase of a $20.5 million bachelor pad certainly supported the claims that he was done with his marriage to Lopez.

A source close to the music superstar spoke to Peopleand revealed that Lopez is "doing as well as she can" after making the huge move to end her marriage legally.

The source revealed that the singer never wanted a divorce, but Affleck left her no choice.

They said, "It's been incredibly difficult for her that Ben chose to pull away from their marriage and move on with his life, leaving her behind. She didn't want a divorce. She wanted to figure things out. They love each other."

The insider insisted that Lopez is "not the type to just give up" on anything, much less marriage, but she really had no choice because "it's been almost torture for her to wait around."

However, now that Lopez has finally filed for divorce, she reportedly "seems relieved."

The Couple Aren't Interested In Spousal Support

Unlike many failed marriages, in which the person filing for divorce often requests spousal support, Lopez stated explicitly in her filing that neither she nor Affleck was interested in one.

She also expressed her wish to have their property divided, though it appears she and Affleck are still negotiating the specifics of who owns what. The filing indicated that she would amend it once all the details were confirmed.

It read, per People, "The exact nature and extent of separate property assets and obligations are unknown to Petitioner at this time. Petitioner reserves the right to amend this Petition when same is ascertained."

The timeline for finalizing the divorce remains uncertain, but the process could be expedited if Lopez and Affleck reach an agreement on all matters quickly. It also helps that Lopez and Affleck did not bear kids for each other during the relationship, which rules out issues with custody arrangements.

Jennifer Lopez And Ben Affleck's $68 Million Mansion Remains Unsold

In the meantime, the duo's $68 million Beverly Hills mansion, which they put up for sale last month, remains unsold despite being renovated to the highest quality to appeal to prospective buyers.

The duo purchased the home in May 2023 for $60,850,000 but listed it for nearly $8 million more than they paid amid reports of a strain in their marriage at the time.

According to reports,  the mansion's lack of buyers is not surprising, given the high interest rates in the real estate market and the limited pool of wealthy buyers.

Still, the mansion has had some potential buyers check it out, which implies that it is only a matter of time before it goes off the market.

However, when it does, Lopez and Affleck might not see much profit due to renovation costs and the typical taxes on Los Angeles mansions.
