Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly seeking to hold reconciliatory talks with the royal family, sparking hopes of resolving their years-long feud.
King Charles III is also understood to be open to ending the rift between them after seeking counsel from religious leaders.
The British monarch is reportedly open to having a "truce" with Prince Harry, who is still fighting to reinstate his security in the U.K.
Prince Harry And Meghan Markle 'Desperate' For Peace Talks With Royal Family
A royal rapprochement between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the royal family might just be close as a source claimed that Harry and Meghan are "desperate" to hold peace talks with his family.
The couple's decision to step back from their senior royal duties in 2020 seemingly led to a tense rift with the rest of the family, as the pair hurled several troubling accusations against them.
An insider told the Daily Mail, "It seems quite clear that they are desperate to start healing the rift" with the royal family.
However, another source cautioned that several royal family members may still be scratching their heads over it, as they worry that anything they discuss will appear in another memoir.
"The problem for the King and other members of the family is the worry that if they have a chat with Harry, it will appear in a Spare volume two," the source told The Times. "How do you regain the trust? I don't think Harry ever can. But from the conversations I've had with the king, I would never say their relationship is irreparable."
They added, "The King's capacity to forgive his son is undimmed. There are other members of the royal family who are much more weighted against Harry, that's the problem."
King Charles Open To Mending Rift With Prince Harry
It comes as Harry's father, King Charles, has seemingly kept the door to reconciling with him open.
According to the Daily Mail, an insider explained that Charles received advice from religious leaders, which provided him with some "spiritual nourishment" and a willingness to mend the fractured relationship with his youngest son.
"Faith has always been a part of Charles's life and something he's explored, but since becoming King it is playing a more central role," the insider noted.
They added, "That reliance on faith and quiet contemplation has become a comfort and asset to him and helps him cope with the role as he adapts to being King."
King Charles Wants Prince Harry 'Back For Personal Reasons'
The source further pointed out that the king hasn't lost his fatherly love for Harry and remains hopeful of his return.
Although it's been reported that Harry's calls to the king, especially in the wake of his cancer diagnosis, had gone unanswered, the insider disclosed that the monarch "misses his son."
"He still loves Harry and wants him back for personal reasons – regardless that he and Meghan do not [want to] return to royal life," the source said.
"Harry will always be Charles's much-loved son. He has faith that Harry could return. He misses the bond they once had, and the door will always remain open to him and his family. He does not want years of discord and disharmony clouding his reign," they added.
The Duke Of Sussex Turned Down An Offer To Stay At Buckingham Palace During His U.K. Visit
In May, Harry paid a visit to the U.K. to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, the international competition he founded for veterans and wounded soldiers.
During his time in the country, the prince lodged in a hotel. However, according to reports, he was offered a complimentary stay at Buckingham Palace but turned it down.
The decision seemed "strange," as the father of two had reportedly requested to be given a royal residence to stay in prior to arriving.
"I don't know what more the king could have done. He offered Harry to stay at Buckingham Palace, but that it seems even that wasn't good enough," a source said, per The Times.
They added: "It makes Harry's decision to stay in a hotel all the more strange when the Palace would naturally offer all the security you could wish for.
Prince William's Stance Against Prince Harry's Return Hasn't Changed
As talks of a father-son reunion continue to take center stage, Prince William's stand against the duke's return to the royal family seems to be the total opposite. Reports claim that the future does not want at his coronation ceremony.
William and Harry have reportedly not maintained contact in over two years, and the Prince of Wales is said to have been angered by Harry and Meghan's continuous address of his wife Catherine as "Kate."
Royal expert Hilary Fordwich previously told Fox News that William is taking a no-nonsense approach to his feud with Harry and has placed an "absolute ban" on his return to the royal family, although he's unlikely to engage in a war of words with Charles.
"It is widely known within the family that Prince William has laid down an absolute ban on Harry returning in any way, shape, or form into his former royal family fold," she told the news outlet.
Fordwich continued, "If anyone will relent, it would be King Charles, whom, of course, Prince William won't challenge, who still misses his 'darling boy' and would like to see more of Prince Harry."
