Simone Biles' family drama has taken a new turn following a recent interview her birth mom, Shannon Biles, granted, in which she expressed her intent to reunite with the Olympian.
Simone and Shannon have had little or no contact since Shannon gave her and her other siblings up for foster care because of her substance abuse and addiction.
Shannon recently received backlash from some fans who accused her of trying to steal the shine from Simone's fine outing at the just-concluded Paris Olympics.
However, Simone Biles' estranged younger sister, Micah Biles, has come forward to offer a passionate defense of their mother, pushing back against the criticism.
Simone Biles' Sister Calls Out Critics Of Their Birth Mom: 'She's Done Nothing To Simone'
Simone's estranged sister, Micah, took to her TikTok account to defend Shannon following the backlash from fans who defended the gymnast's decision to keep her distance from her.
In the clip, she suggested that Simone's fans need to be more empathetic towards their mom as she suffered with her struggles and seemingly couldn't do much at the time.
"I want to come to this internet and defend my mom," Micah began her TikTok, captured by TNT. "Because she might not be everything we expected her to be, but at the end of the day, she's still a work in progress, and we give her that."
"Simone chose not to have a relationship with my mom, and that's fine, that was her choice," she continued, adding that she, herself, didn't have a good relationship with their mom because of her addiction until she was 17.
"It was on and off because she was still dealing with what she was dealing with at the time," Micah added. "But I'm not going to let you all get on this internet and bash my mom, or say anything bad, or anything of that sort because she's not a bad person. She's done nothing to Simone. Life happened to her."

Micah briefly hinted at her broken relationship with Simone, noting that the star athlete seemingly did not want to pursue anything with her.
According to Micah, there are three sets of Biles siblings; the eldest, Ashley, has her own father. Tevin, Simone, and Adria have their own dad, Kevin Clemons, who also wants to reunite with Simone.
Micah, Mariah, Taron Biles-Walker, and Shania Biles-Walker all have their own fathers.
Simone maintains a relationship with her older siblings and her younger sister, Adria, but it is unclear if the same can be said for the remaining, as Micah teased that they're estranged.
"I have my own problems with Simone, but I'm not going to get on this Internet and do too much on that," she explained.
"Because I already tried, and y'all tried to fake a-s bash me for that. So I'm not going to do that because y'all [are] trying to make it seem like, 'Oh, I'm just jealous' or whatever. But at the end of the day, I just wanted my sister," she added.
Shannon Biles Reportedly Lives Close To Poverty
Micah's message comes after her mother, Shannon, gave an interview to the Daily Mail, expressing her desire to mend the broken relationship with her famous daughter, Simone.
Shannon, who still lives in the same corner red-brick row house in the crime-ridden neighborhood of Franklinton, Columbus, Ohio, currently works as a cashier and has had to pay off large amounts of debts through her teeth.
As of 2018, a Chapter Seven bankruptcy petition showed that she had only a $34 prepaid card to her name, an unusable Toyota Scion XB 2008, and a non-roadworthy GMC Sierra 2003, worth a combined $2,125.
More Of Shannon Biles' Financial Woes
Per the Daily Mail, Shannon owed a total of $14,234 to 21 companies, including medical and financial services, shopping websites, and a $3,834 student loan, and was sued by debt collecting agency LVNV Funding LLC in 2021 with a judgment against her to pay off $916.25.
She was reportedly still paying off her debts as recently as December last year despite installments being collected through her wages, which she previously reported as $ 1,688 monthly.
Speaking on whether or not she'd accept Simone's handouts, she said, "Of course, I would accept her help. She hasn't [offered] it so far. I'm here. I'm okay."
She Would Like To Make Amends With Her Olympian Daughter
Simone's mother went on to say that she wants to reunite with her daughter, explaining the circumstances surrounding her abandonment at the time.
"It was hard to give up my kids, but I had to do what I had to do. I wasn't able to care for them. I was still using and [my father] didn't want me coming in and out of their lives when I wasn't right," she told the the news outlet.
Shannon continued, "I would like to make amends with Simone personally – I'm just waiting for her and [her younger sister] Adria. I speak to Adria more than I speak to Simone. I would just ask her to forgive me. Can we move forward? Don't judge me on my past. Let's move forward."
"I'm waiting for the opportunity but I'm waiting for her to be able to come to me. Let's sit down. I just have to be patient," she added.
