Matthew Perry's ex-girlfriend vouches on the late celebrity's behalf amid investigation into his ketamine addiction before death.

The actor's former partner and assistant, Kayti Edwards, discussed his fear of needles during their time together and how his ketamine addiction just does not make sense to her in the grand scheme of things.

Matthew Perry and Kayti Edwards dated in 2006 before she worked as his assistant in 2011, and they remained close friends up until his shocking passing at 54.

The 47-year-old recalled Perry's resolve never to "use needles or inject anything into his body." She added that the late actor did not even want to get tattoos. However, his indulgence in drugs was not a new thing to her. She declared:

"I would often see him very high and using lots of different drugs. I would always get so scared, and tell him that he had to stop mixing all this stuff, saying 'you're gonna die."

She reiterated Perry's stance on needles, stating, "But he was like, 'You only die when you use needles…and I would never, ever, ever do that."

The former assistant then urged the authorities to take a closer look into his death after it was revealed last week that he was injected at least 21 times with hard drugs in his last week on earth.

Edwards found it incredibly odd that he allowed his assistant Kenneth Iwamasa to inject him, especially as he "had no medical training."

Iwamasa has pleaded guilty to one count charge of conspiracy to distribute ketamine, causing death. The Mirror reported that he also confessed to repeatedly injecting Perry with ketamine without proper medical training.

The lack of drugs or paraphernalia at the scene of Perry's death also raised concerns for Edwards.

"If you have given him a big shot, there would be a needle and evidence of ketamine in the house. Where did it all go? Why did the assistant shoot him up with all those drugs and leave," said the former assistant.

The 47-year-old shared that she was always present when Matthew took drugs when they worked together because she did not want him to overdose. She added that she always had 911 on speed dial should it ever come to that.

Edwards could not fathom why Iwamasa, who was meant to be the closest person to Perry, was notably missing in his last hours as he might have helped save his life.

DEA Administrator Anne Milgram explained that the "Friends" actor turned to the suspects for supply when the clinic where he was taking ketamine would not increase his dosage.

Perry reportedly began taking ketamine to address his anxiety and depression. The same substance, however, allegedly led to his death.

The 54-year-old actor was found dead in a hot tub in his Los Angeles home on October 28. 2023 from "acute effects of ketamine," according to the LA medical examiner.

The Blast reported that the actor's last words to his assistant who lived with him were a special order to "shoot him up with a big one" after preparing a steaming hot jacuzzi for his pleasure.

The "big one" was allegedly Perry's third request for the day after Iwamasa previously administered two ketamine injections to him. His assistant then left to attend to some errands and, on his return, found Perry unresponsive and face down in the hot tub.

Iwamasa took on the role of fulfilling his boss's fantasies with ketamine despite zero medical knowledge. He was also the final person in the chain of Perry's ketamine purchase.

Iwamasa's ketamine hunt began in September 2023, and it became a daily routine. He reportedly spent at least $55,000 of Perry's money to acquire the drugs.

The Blast reported that the "Friends" actor claimed using ketamine made him feel like "being hit in the head with a giant happy shovel." He also walked the readers through the injection process in the snippet, stating:

"Ketamine felt like a giant exhale. They'd bring me into a room, sit me down, put headphones on me so I would listen to music, blindfold me, and put an IV in."

The actor continued that the drug had his name written all over it, adding that "they might as well have called it 'Matty." He explained that he became a fan of ketamine due to its hallucinogenic effects, which often disconnected him from reality.

"I'd been in therapy for so long that I wasn't even freaked out by this. Oh, there's a horse over there? Fine — might as well be," Perry noted, adding, "As the music played and the K ran through me, it all became about the ego and the death of the ego."

Will there be another twist in the investigation with Matthew Perry's ex's revelation?
