Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan are set to return for a sequel to "Freaky Friday," and fans are already buzzing with excitement.

Curtis, who played Tess Coleman, the psychologist, and single mom about to marry her fiancé Ryan, and Lohan, who portrayed Anna Coleman, Tess's music-loving and rebellious teenage daughter, have recently been spotted filming, only amplifying the anticipation for when the movie is released next year.

Speculation has circulated that "Freakier Friday" may be released to Disney's streaming service, Disney+, but Jamie Lee Curtis is shutting those rumors down.

It’s been over 20 years since the original film hit theaters, and the entire cast has definitely grown up since then. “Lindsay’s a mommy. Little Luai just had his first birthday a week ago," Jamie Lee Curtis told Variety last month. "It changes you as a human, being a parent. She’s very conservative, so I was like, ‘Relax. Relax.’ Luai’s just starting to walk."

"She’s at that point where toddlers hold onto things, then they wobble, then they go down. She’s at work, and she’s watching on her phone,” the actress added of Lohan and her relationship with her first child. “She’s watching videos on livestream with the baby in between scenes. She’s watching her child start toddling, and it’s just very sweet. She’s great. She’s very happy. We’re having a really, really, really fun time.”

In the same Instagram post where she bashed the paparazzi for leaking photos of the "Freakier Friday" beach set, the actress revealed whether or not the upcoming sequel will be released theatrically or via Disney's streaming service.

"We know it will be the experience that you will have in the theaters next year," Curtis wrote. "Yes, you heard me… The theaters. The place we all go and enjoy a shared experience in the dark while munching popcorn and candy and laughing together and sometimes crying together. Until then....."

Fans are pumped to learn that "Freakier Friday" is getting a theatrical release.

With Disney dropping so many of its recent flicks straight onto Disney+, those without a subscription have been missing out. But this time, everyone will get a chance to see it on the big screen.

"I’m glad it’s in the theater! That streaming rumor pissed me off," one user commented. "@jamieleecurtis you don’t get the two best movie stars of the 2000s to reunite and put it on Disney+ [laughing face emoji] no shade to Disney+- some moments deserve a big screen."

"I cannot wait to see it in THEATERS," another said.

Lohan and Curtis aren't the only “Freaky Friday” alums joining the sequel. Heartthrob Chad Michael Murray, who portrayed Jake in the first film, is back to reprise his role, and Curtis is so excited!

When speaking to Variety, she reminisced about the first table read with the crew and Disney execs, noting that it was a big hit. “All of a sudden, the Chad Michael Murray character comes into the story, and I’m telling you, the entire room changed," she told the outlet.

"Every woman in the room was leaning forward," Curtis continued to explain. "The laughter, the applause that he got! After the table read, I walked up to the director and producers. I was like, ‘We need to stretch that taffy. He is gold. His character is just so fabulous.’ Jake is back, in a big, big way.”
