Shaboozey wants his songwriting rights and is willing to fight for it!

The singer-songwriter, born Collins Obinna Chibueze, recently filed a lawsuit against Kreshendo Entertainment, his former record company. He accused them of shady dealings behind the scenes and claimed they didn't want him to be free.

Shaboozey is topping music charts with his country single "A Bar Song (Tipsy);" however, he cannot enjoy all the profits if his former label refuses to return his publishing rights.

According to new reports, Shaboozey slammed Kreshendo Entertainment in a heated lawsuit for making it almost impossible for him to regain publishing rights to his music.

He explained that his publishing agreement with Kreshendo ended after three years in 2019 when he terminated their partnership. This allowed him to replace the company on the bargaining table for deals.

Shaboozey represented himself in a deal with music publisher Warner-Tamerlane and tried to regain control of his publishing rights. However, with his viral country single, those rights were more lucrative — profits his former company allegedly wanted.

According to TMZ, the singer noted a clause in his contract that permitted him to pay Warner 110% of the unrecouped balance of prior advances to regain his publishing rights. However, the music publisher allegedly refused to tell him what he owed.

Shaboozey Accuses His Former Company Of Interference

According to Shaboozey, Warner-Tamerlane wouldn't reveal how much he owed because of Kreshendo's interference. He believed his former company asked the music publisher not to share the information to keep him trapped in the deal.

Besides interfering with his publishing rights, Shaboozey also slammed Kreshendo for allegedly releasing several songs without his consent. The company reportedly dropped his music after he terminated their contract in 2019.

News of Shaboozey's drama with his former label comes two months after he announced his first tour. The Blast shared that he dropped the update on Instagram, raving about how far he had come in 2024.

The Rising Country Star Gushed About His Year Of 'Firsts'

In his tour announcement, Shaboozey reflected on his successes, from the chart-topping "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" to featuring on Beyoncé's "Cowboy Carter" album. He wrote:

"This year's been a lot of firsts, and happy to include my first ever headline tour to that list! Come listen to me perform the album and new music live for the first time this fall on leg one of 'WIBIWIG!'"

"Let's sell these out and add more dates. I wanna meet and see every single one of y'all!" Shaboozey continued. His post generated excited reactions from fans, with many celebrating his first-ever tour.

The Singer Described His Newfound Fame As 'A Dream'

Before his tour announcement, the singer-songwriter got candid about how incredible it felt to be in the spotlight. He noted the fame was the fruit of his years-long labor, saying:

"I've put a lot of time and years into it. I put so much into it that I feel like it's just cool to see it working. Everybody hopes it works. To see it actually working, it's unreal."

"It feels like a dream. It feels like I'm definitely going to wake up at some point and be like, 'damn, that sh-t was a dream?'" Shaboozey continued, sharing his excitement at the successful release of his third album.

The studio project "Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going" was significant to Shaboozey. It was a powerful reminder that it was "good to look back at where you came from," but "what's more exciting is your future."

In addition to his successful music career, The Blast reported that Shaboozey turned heads with his blossoming relationship with Emily Ratajkowski. The pair were photographed enjoying each other's company at the "Blink Twice" after-party in New York City.

Their date night came weeks after a source claimed the duo were inseparable at Rema's album release party. "They were definitely vibing and enjoying each other's company all night; they weren't trying to be discreet," the insider said.

Following this outing, Ratajkowski supported Shaboozey during his performance at Z100's annual summer bash. The pair first sparked dating rumors after their appearance at Michael Rubin's Fourth of July party.
