Catching A Show At The Sphere In Vegas Is A Unique Experience!

The outside of the infamous Las Vegas Sphere is impressive, but what about the inside? Is it just as amazing?
Anyone who visits Las Vegas knows all about Sphere and how just seeing the exosphere entertains people of all ages. After being mesmerized by the outside of Sphere for more than a year, it was time for me to check out the inside. I recently attended a viewing of "Postcard from Earth" and have to say the experience has left me speechless.
Finally Going Inside The Las Vegas Sphere!
Anyone who knows me knows I’ve been obsessed with the flashy venue since its early days. I’m not sure what it is that fascinates me about it to this degree, but I do love its existence.
Seeing it from the outside for over a year now, I was long overdue for a visit to the inside, so earlier this week, I went to a viewing of “Postcard from Earth” and it was quite the experience.
My expectations were quite high, and I would say overall, Sphere didn’t disappoint.
Viewing 'Postcard From Earth' In The Sphere
Sphere’s events seem to be well planned out. Our show time was 5:15 p.m. and we were allowed to enter at 4:30 p.m. to have time to check out the lobby before finding our seats. While the line was long to get into the lobby, it moved quickly and efficiently. And important to note: You don’t have to line up outside in the heat, which was a huge plus, since it was about 110 degrees in the middle of the afternoon the day I went.
The experience begins the minute you step foot in the lobby. Holograms, robots, and amazing decor await you, as well as trendy food and cocktail options. Then depending on what level your seats are on, you’ll be taking a long escalator, or two, or three, to get to your floor. We had 300-level seats so we went up two super long escalators, which gave us extra time to really check out all the fun in the lobby.
Once in your seats, it’s time to get excited for what’s to come. While there’s a large movie-sized screen on the wall when you arrive, and the movie starts just on that, it quickly ends up taking up the majority of the venue. And it’s not only a visual experience - there are also vibrations and smells during certain parts of the film. It’s a full sensory experience!
'Postcard From Earth' Debuted In October 2023
Academy Award-nominated director Darren Aronofsky's "Postcard from Earth" debuted at Sphere last October. The film takes people on a unique tour of the world from the comfort of their seats.
"The way the film is shot, every continent of the world is represented on the screen," Aronofsky said, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "We will transport people, who maybe have been staring at the inside of casinos, to some of the most beautiful places on the planet. Not to say casinos can't be beautiful, but they definitely are not part of the natural world."
The film utilizes the interior LED display plane that's all around the audience to create a fully immersive visual experience. "Postcard from Earth" is the first production to feature the Sphere's multi-sensory 4D technologies - including environmental effects such as a cool breeze or familiar scent, and deep vibrations.
Meet Aura!
Once guests enter the lobby, they are greeted by humanoid robots named Aura, who serve as interactive guides in the Atrium. Each one of the robots focuses on one fundamental aspect of human ability - connection, creativity, innovation, productivity, and longevity.
Aura was developed using next-generation technology and artificial intelligence. They guide guests through an interactive demonstration of Sphere Immersive Sound, the most advanced concert-grade audio system in the world.
Another fascinating, eye-catching feature in the lobby is a 50-foot-high holographic installation.
Current Shows At The Sphere
In addition to "Postcard from Earth," there are a few other shows currently calling Sphere home.
"V-U2 An Immersive Concert Film" is a one-of-a-kind cinematic experience that you can only see at Sphere. The film is the first to ever be shot entirely with Big Sky, "the groundbreaking ultra-high-resolution camera system developed by Sphere Entertainment."
Also at Sphere is the Eagles residency, 10 exclusive weekends from September 20, 2024 to January 25, 2025.
On September 14, Riyadh Season NOCHE UFC will take over Sphere. According to their website, "In the main event, the UFC bantamweight title is on the line when bantamweight champion "Suga" Sean O'Malley defends his belt against "The Machine," relentless contender Merab Dvalishvili. Plus, flyweight superstars will settle the score in their third meeting as Alexa Grasso will risk her 125-pound championship against longtime rival Valentina Shevchenko."
