Oprah Winfrey is a little late to the party, but her clap back at J.D. Vance will not be forgotten soon.
The legendary talk show host made a surprise appearance at the Democratic National Convention (DNC), where she hyped the crowd to vote for Kamala Harris. However, her best moment involved Donald Trump's running mate.
Oprah Winfrey slammed J.D. Vance's infamous "childless cat ladies" comment in her speech, calling him out for failing to understand that Americans don't discriminate against each other.
Oprah Winfrey Mocks J.D. Vance With Shout-Out To Cat Ladies
On Wednesday night, Winfrey took the stage to promote Harris's presidential campaign while trolling one of her opponents. Although she didn't mention Trump or Vance by name, she mocked their controversial comments about race and cat ladies.
"What I've witnessed and experienced are human beings, both conservative and liberal, who may not agree with each other but who would still help you in a heartbeat if you were in trouble," Winfrey began, claiming these types of people made her proud to be an American.
"They are the best of America, and despite what some would have you think, we are not so different from our neighbors. When a house is on fire, we don't ask about the homeowner's race or religion," she continued in the video shared by TMZ, adding:
"We don't wonder who their partner is or how they voted. No, we just try to do the best we can to save them. And if the place happens to belong to a childless cat lady, well, we try to get that cat out too."
Kamala Harris' Stepdaughter Clapped Back At Vance's Infamous Comments
Before Winfrey's surprise appearance at the DNC, several of Harris's supporters had bashed Vance's infamous comments. The Blast reported that the list included the VP's stepdaughter, Ella Emhoff.
The media personality addressed the situation on her Instagram Story, sharing a news report housing her biological mother's rebuttal about Vance's "childless" remark. Kerstin Emhoff's message read:
"These are baseless attacks. For over 10 years, since Cole and Ella were teenagers, Kamala has been a co-parent with Doug and 1. She is loving, nurturing, fiercely protective, and always present."
Ella doubled down on her comment, claiming that Harris couldn't be childless since she raised her husband's children. "How can you be 'childless' when you have cutie pie kids like Cole and I? @kemhoff say it louder for the people in the back. I love my three parents," she wrote.
Jennifer Aniston Reminds Vance He Has A Young Daughter
The list of those displeased by Vance's comments included Jennifer Aniston. The "Friends" star called out the Republican's vice presidential candidate on her Instagram Story, sharing a screenshot of his controversial interview alongside the words:
"I truly can't believe this is coming from a potential VP of the United States. All I can say isā¦ Mr. Vance, I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day."
"I hope she will not need to turn to IVF as a second option. Because you are trying to take that away from her, too," Aniston concluded. Vance's "childless" comment hit too close to home for the actress, who has been vocal about her fertility struggles.
Vance Labeled Aniston's Comments About His Daughter 'Disgusting'
The drama over Vance's controversial comments continued, with The Blast reporting that he slammed Aniston's take on the situation. He called her out on a July appearance on the "Megyn Kelly Show," saying:
"That's disgusting because my daughter is 2 years old."
"And second of all, if she had fertility problems, as I said in that speech, I would try everything I could to try to help her because I believe families and babies are a good thing," Vance continued, arguing that his infamous words weren't a problem.
What Did J.D. Vance Say About' Childless Cat Ladies?'
Trump's running mate became the internet's punching bag after a 2021 interview resurfaced online. He slammed female politicians without children in the viral clip, describing them as:
"A bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable with their own lives and the choices they've made, and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable, too."
He also bashed the Democratic Party for letting women without children into politics, saying: "It's just a basic fact ā you look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, AOC ā the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children."
Will J.D. Vance ever apologize for his comments, or will he remain steadfast in his belief that he said nothing wrong?
