Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's son Pax Jolie Pitt's accident has reportedly improved the dynamic between the warring ex-couple, as the actress now "appreciates" the concern her former husband has shown.

Although Pitt and his kids aren't on good terms, the actor still wants to send Pax gifts and visit but is respectful of his son's boundaries.

Brad Pitt is also dealing with other children's decisions to drop his last name after initially blaming Angelina Jolie for turning them against him.

Pitt is thankful that his son Pax is finally on the road to recovery after his near-fatal bike accident on July 29.

At the time, the 20-year-old crashed his bike into a car near his mother's home in Los Angeles. Pax wasn't wearing a helmet and suffered injuries so severe that bystanders thought he was dead.

An insider told In Touch, "Brad is terribly upset and still coming down from the shock of this all, but more than anything he's massively grateful that Pax is out of the hospital and on the road to recovery."

After a week of treatment in the ICU, Pax was finally declared stable by his doctors and released from the hospital. He's now recovering at home and surrounded by his mother and siblings.

Pax's horrifying accident has significantly changed the dynamic of Pitt and Jolie's relationship, who have been on bad terms since they separated in 2016.

The separation was just the start of his estrangement from their six kids: Maddox, 23; Pax, 20; Zahara, 19; Shiloh, 18; and 16-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

The source told the news outlet, "Angelina is making sure [Brad] does get updates, although not directly from her."

They added, "She appreciates his concern, and for once, they seem to have calmed down and stopped the whole blame game, which has a lot of people in their worlds thinking they might finally be able to sit down and talk."

Pitt has been estranged from his adult children since he and Jolie split and only has contact with the younger ones.

Despite this, the source said he's still willing to "pay anything towards Pax's medical bills."

They said, "He'd love to be able to send gifts to him or see him in person. But, of course, he's respecting Pax's boundaries and not pushing himself on anyone."

The slight improvements in the family's relationship have given their inner circle hopes of peace in the near future.

"Angelina is grateful and seems more open to making up with him, but it's just so sad that the one trace of hope for peace between these two has [come from] something so tragic," the source added.

Sources close to Pitt have previously revealed that he blamed Jolie for the increasing distance between him and his kids, especially when daughter Shiloh dropped his last name. The 18-year-old has been court-approved for a legal change of her full name to "Shiloh Jolie."

According to In Touch, Pitt felt that Jolie "slowly but surely turned their kids against him" and influenced them to distance themselves from him completely. Shiloh is just the third of the couple's children to publicly drop their father's last name.

In May, Vivienne boldly removed Pitt from her name on the credit of the playbill for the Broadway musical "The Outsiders."

Then, in November 2023, the couple's eldest daughter, Zahara, introduced herself as "Zahara Marley Jolie" for a Spelman College sorority initiation ceremony.

Pitt was reportedly "hurt" by Shiloh's decision, but his daughter's move did not blindside the actor.

"He knew this was coming, and there is nothing he can do about it right now," an insider told the Daily Mail about Pitt.

According to the source, The Hollywood star still loves Shiloh and all his children and has come to accept that his estrangement from them is now a "way of life."

"He respects Shiloh's decision. He loves her, and no matter what happens, he is always only a phone call away," added the insider. "He will be there for Shiloh and any of his kids whenever they need, no questions asked."
