Justin Timberlake Has Allegedly Gone 'Cold Turkey On The Booze' To Appease His Wife After DWI Bust

Justin Timberlake has reportedly dialed down his drinking habits following an incident in June that led to him being arrested and charged with a DWI.

This decision is reportedly an effort to mend things with his wife, Jessica Biel, who was upset by the arrest incident. However, the transition hasn't been easy for the singer.

To cope, Justin Timberlake has turned to gym workouts and computer games to relieve stress and stay true to his promise.

Following his DWI arrest, Timberlake has reportedly decided to cut back on his drinking and other vices.

His wife was reportedly unhappy with the negative attention Timberlake's actions caused their family. To appease her, he is making efforts to "clean up his act" and win back her approval.

"Part of Justin's mea culpa to Jessica was to admit that he'd gotten into some bad habits and that he needs to dial everything way back," the source shared about the actor, per In Touch Weekly.

"He was busted with a vape pen, which is a big worry because of the [effect] it can have on his lungs," the insider continued. "So he's now agreed to totally ditch that for good, and he's gone pretty much cold turkey on the booze, too."

According to the source, "it's not been easy" for the singer to stick to his promise. Although he occasionally allows himself "a glass of wine at dinner or on special occasions," resisting his thirst for alcohol and his other vices becomes particularly challenging when he wants to unwind after a show during his ongoing tour.

"He's admitted to his friends that it's very boring because there's nothing to take the edge off, especially when he's out on the road," the insider shared.

Instead of falling back into old habits, Timberlake reportedly "sweats it out in the gym" when he is feeling restless or turns to computer games to "zone out."

The source added, "As far as vices go, they're all gone — and, as anyone knows, it can [be] a big adjustment period. But he's promised his wife to clean up his act, and he's sticking to it, no matter how tough it gets."

According to the Daily Mail, a source close to Biel claimed that she was unhappy about her husband's run-in with the law.

At the time, Biel was also in New York City, filming her new Prime Video series, "The Better Sister," miles away from Sag Harbor, Long Island, where Timberlake was arrested.

The insider said that Biel was "embarrassed" but hopeful that the incident would cause the singer to reduce his alcohol intake.

"Jessica is disappointed but he is her husband so she is by his side and will have his back through all of it," the tipster noted. "She would like Justin to curb his drinking, so he never gets into a situation like this ever again. She is treating it like a slap on the wrist and is hoping that it doesn't lead to anything more severe in the future."

In the early hours of June 18, traffic police stopped Timberlake after he left a high-profile Hamptons hotel.

According to reports, the officers initiated the stop because the ten-time Grammy award winner ran past a stop sign and swerved in and out of his lane.

During the traffic stop, Timberlake performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety and was then charged with a  DWI misdemeanor and cited for veering out of his lane.

At a preliminary court hearing for Timberlake's misdemeanor DWI charge, his attorney, Edward Burke Jr., claimed that the singer was not intoxicated when police pulled him over. The lawyer made the statement as part of his argument to get the charges dismissed. However, his request was denied, and an arraignment date was set for August 2 to hear the charge.

When the arraignment date arrived, Timberlake's driver's license was officially suspended, although it is unclear how long the suspension will last. He was not present in person for the hearing and joined in virtually to plead not guilty to the DWI charges.

The next hearing for the charges is set for September 13. Just like the previous hearing, the singer is not required to appear in person, allowing him to continue on his ongoing tour without disruption.

After the judge rules on his DWI charge, Timberlake is expected to receive more punishment than the license suspension.

According to reports, he doesn't plan on shying away from the "consequences" of his actions, which could possibly include a jail term of up to a year.

"Justin is prepared to face whatever consequences he needs to. He is hoping to learn from this experience and put it behind him," a source told Entertainment Tonight about the singer.

The insider also claimed that the singer's wife has been "extremely supportive and helping him navigate everything."
