After months of speculation, Jennifer Lopez has finally pulled the trigger on her marriage with Ben Affleck.
The actress has reportedly filed for divorce from the actor, and she did so on a significant day for her and her estranged husband.
August 20, 2022, is the day Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck had their elaborate Georgia wedding after eloping in Las Vegas a month earlier.
Jennifer Lopez Asks Judge To Deny Ben Affleck Spousal Support
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Lopez is requesting a termination of her two-year marriage to Affleck and has waived her right to request spousal support.
The "Monster-in-Law" star, reportedly worth $400 million, has also asked a judge to deny her husband spousal support in the case that he asks for one in his response to her lawsuit.
Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck at the L.A. County Superior Court on Tuesday, reportedly in person without the assistance of an attorney.
The singer notably did not specify if she and Affleck, who is said to be worth $150 million, have a prenup, which means that the money made by both stars during their marriage is up for grabs.
Lopez, for instance, worked on the films "Shotgun Wedding," "This Is Me ... Now," "The Mother," and "Atlas" while they were married. Affleck, on the other hand, starred in films such as "Air" and "Hypnotic" and produced "The Instigators."
The couple also does not have a settlement agreement in place. Since Lopez and Affleck did not have any kids together, they would not have to fight over child support during their divorce.
Jennifer Lopez Lists Specific Date Of Her Separation From Ben Affleck
In her court filing, Lopez revealed that the precise date she separated from Affleck was April 26, 2024. This date matches the period during which the couple's marriage started being plagued by split rumors, as they were no longer seen together in public.
Affleck and Lopez's romance is one of the most talked about in Hollywood. The duo's first relationship, which began in 2002 when they met on the set of the movie Gigli, ended in 2004 with a called-off engagement.
Lopez and Affleck resumed their passion in 2021, and the following year, in July 2022, they were married in a small ceremony in Las Vegas.
However, they held a more elaborate and lavish wedding in August at the actor's 87-acre compound outside Savannah, Georgia.
Ben Affleck And Jennifer Lopez Are Selling Their Marital Mansion
After their huge wedding bash, Affleck and Lopez jointly purchased a $60 million Beverly Hills mansion in 2023.
But, early this year, the duo's relationship became plagued with split rumors due to their reduced sightings together.
Affleck made no appearances to support his wife's film projects, and he notably missed the 2024 Met Gala, where she was a co-chair. Things then took a turn for the worse when it was reported that he had moved out of their shared home.
On July 11, Lopez and Affleck publicly listed the mansion for a staggering $68 million. The 38,000-square-foot property, now on MLS, boasts numerous recent upgrades and improvements made over the past four months.
Though the couple initially tried to sell the mansion discreetly, they have now chosen to put it on the public market as they search for a buyer.
Ben Affleck Has Already Purchased A Mansion For Himself
Shortly after it was confirmed that Affleck had packed his things out of his shared home with Lopez, the actor splurged on another mansion in Los Angeles.
TMZ reported that the actor "closed escrow" on a mansion in Pacific Palisades for a whopping $20.5 million.
The mansion, which has been deemed a "bachelor pad, boasts five bedrooms and six bathrooms, breakfast and dining spaces, and a separate family room.
It also has a den, walk-in closets, a movie room, a powder room, a guest house, and more.
The actor reportedly bought the home on his wife's birthday, July 24, which at the time further fueled the rumors that his marriage to Lopez was truly over.
Jennifer Lopez Is Searching For A New Home
After a long stay in the Hamptons, New York, Lopez finally returned to Los Angeles and immediately began house-hunting.
She recently toured a $22 million home in Beverly Hills, California, after checking out a $68 million mansion just 15 minutes away from her and Affleck's marital home, which they are trying to sell.
The "On The Floor" singer completed the sale of her New York City apartment for $23 million, so she likely has cash to spare as she shops for a new mansion.
