Ike Turner Drug And Health Problems
Ike Turnerwas an American musician, songwriter and record producer. He was born November 5, 1931 and sadly passed away on December 12, 2007.
Turner did a lot of work in the 1960s and 1970's rock and roll after he teamed up with his former wife Tina Turner.
In the 80s and 90s, his career was greatly affected by serious allegations of cocaine addiction, multiple jail terms and domestic violence allegations by Tina.
Turner was convicted of drug related offenses and he served 18 months in jail after his release in 1991 he had a relapse in 2004. At the time of his death, Turner was diagnosed with emphysema and bipolar disorder.
Tina Turner's Allegations
Turner admitted to liking “coke” during an interview. In his words, he said; “I liked coke, who don’t? I’ve always been quiet, but this stuff makes me talk.”
As for the domestic violence allegations against him what we know is what was revealed by Tina Turner in her 2018 memoir “My Love Story.”
She disclosed in details, saying;
“He threw hot coffee in my face, giving me third-degree burns, he used my nose as a punching bag so many times that I could taste blood running down my throat when I sang. He broke my jaw. And I couldn’t remember what it was like not to have a black eye.”
Phil Spector Slams Tina Turner
During a memorial service in December 2007 in remembrance of Turner, music producer Phil Spector give an outstanding eulogy that dissed Oprah Winfrey and Tina.
He gave the credits of Tina's career success to the late musician. He also spoke about how her biopic “What’s Love Got To Do With It” saying it was a 'trash' movie.
Spector reprimanded Oprah for promoting Tina's best selling memoir, as he said that the books were badly written and wouldn’t have sold more than 10 copies because she vilified and demonized Turner in it.
Tina Skipped Her Ex-Husband's Funeral
Tina said that she was never really able to forgive him while he was alive and therefore she decided not to attend his funeral.
She said this during a 2019 interview with The New York Times;
“I don’t know if I could ever forgive all that Ike ever did to me, But Ike’s dead, so we don’t have to worry about him.”
Tina is a Swiss but American born singer and actress. She was born on November 26,1939. She rose to the spotlights after her partnership with her ex husband as Ike. After their divorce, she went on to become a successful solo artist.
