"I was recently diagnosed with DCIS, which stands for ductal carcinoma in situ, which is a form of breast cancer," said the 43-year-old to her listeners. She added that her two co-stars, who also host her "Pod Meets World" podcast with her, were some of the first to know.

Fishel clarified that the cancer is still "very veryvery early. It's technically stage zero and added that "just because I like too much information all the time, I was diagnosed with high-grade DCIS with micro-invasion."

The star shared her plans to have surgery to remove the cancer as she assured her fans she was going to be fine. "I'm going to be on some follow-up treatment," she continued. "I've had to make a lot of decisions over the last couple of days."

The Podcaster Encouraged Annual Mammograms

Fishel also used her diagnosis to promote the early detection of cancers via regular mammograms. She explained that the reason she "caught this cancer when it is still stage zero "is because the hospital alerted her about her yearly mammogram, and she made the appointment.

"They found it so, so, so early that I'm going to be fine. I hope it will encourage anyone to get in there. If you have to find out you have cancer, find out at stage zero if possible," declared Fishel.

Her 44-year-old co-star Strong described Fishel's diagnosis as mind-boggling because he and his wife know "four people, four friends who are dealing with breast cancer," as he encouraged fans to get checked.

Fisher's Final Years On 'Boy Meets World'

The 43-year-old discussed her time as Topanga Lawrence-Matthews on the ABC teen sitcom, which aired from 1993 to 2000. The show then resurfaced on the Disney Channel as "Girl Meets World" and aired from 2014 to 2017.

The Blast reported that Fishel did not enjoy her role, especially in the last few seasons of "Boy Meets World," despite it being responsible for her huge popularity.

The actress disclosed that she was schooling full-time and working full-time and started feeling like she just wanted her life back, adding, "The last several years, I feel like were tainted by my own feeling of wanting it to be over."

But everything changed as soon she left the show to seek greener pastures on other sets. The actress realized how popular the show was with the public.

The Former ABC Star Learned Her Lesson

The actress admitted that after almost a decade of exiting the show, she appreciates her past experiences more and "would do anything to go back and have those moments back."

Fishel admitted to using the lessons learned from disliking her final days on the show to help her cherish more private times in other projects she has worked on since then. The mom-of-one explained:

"Any time in my life, both personally and professionally, where I have felt like I'm starting to take something for granted, I remind myself, 'You did this with the end of "Boy Meets World." Don't do it now, because one day you're going to look back, and you're going to wish you had those moments back."
