Last week, Saweetie stunned social media after she revealed that she wasn’t with her boyfriend, Quavo, anymore. The Migos rapper also confirmed that the two weren’t a couple anymore. This week, Saweetie also graced the cover of Cosmopolitan where she looked absolutely stunning and as she discussed her music career so far, pretty girl privilege, and also PTSD she suffered from a freestyle gone wrong at the legendary Hot 97 radio station in New York City back in 2018.
Saweetie Explains PTSD Feeling From Hot 97 Freestyle
Saweetie really started to make noise as an artist in 2018. Then, she was invited for an interview at Hot 97. Her and her team really wanted her to do a freestyle but it was a very bad experience. Host, Ebro Darden, called it “basic” and this feeling stuck with Saweetie.
“It was a really dark point in my life. I went from being so loved so quickly because of ‘Icy Grl’ to, on my first promo run, well, you saw the interview. The script flipped really quick, like night and day. I was like, ‘Wait…’.” I had PTSD from that.”
Hot 97 Explains Saweetie Incident
One of the hosts during that inteview, Laura Stylez, recently admitted that he and the Hot 97 team actually lied and said their equipment wasn’t working so they could prevent Saweetie from doing the freestyle then.
“Let’s just be honest about what really happened. When she came in, we were down to do the interview. But her team was really pushing for her to freestyle. I remember us specifically lying and saying our equipment didn’t work, we didn’t wanna do that to her. We lied and said our equipment wasn’t working– we didn’t want her to freestyle, let’s just have the interview.”
Saweetie Is Also Moving On From Quavo
In Saweetie‘s breakup announcement on Twitter, she did seem disappointed. She explained how she felt hurt and betrayed. She also hinted at Quavo cheating.
“I’m single. I’ve endured too much betrayal and hurt behind the scenes for a false narrative to be circulating that degrades my character. Presents don’t band aid scars and the love isn’t real when the intimacy is given to other women.“
Quavo then tried to paint himself as the victim by claiming that Saweetie wasn’t the woman he thought she was. In the end, she responded with “Take care” and appears to have ended that chapter in her life.
Saweetie Is Winning With New ‘Best Friend’ Single Featuring Doja Cat
Saweetie focusing on relationship issues shouldn’t be a thing now because she is still very hot as an artist. She released her new “Best Friend” single featuring Doja Cat in January and it has been doing very well. It is certified gold by the RIAA in the US and also currently stands at No. 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This record is also expected to be on Saweetie’s upcoming debut studio album, which has yet to receive an official release date and title.
