Why Disney Star Skai Jackson's Domestic Battery Case Was Dropped Despite Public Fight With Boyfriend

Skai Jackson can breathe a sigh of relief as her domestic battery charges have been dropped due to insufficient evidence.

Known for her roles in Disney Channel's "Bunk'd" and "Jessie,"  Jackson was recently entangled in a legal ordeal after she allegedly assaulted her boyfriend during a public fight that was caught on camera.

Skai Jackson has been private about her love life since her messy split from her alleged ex-boyfriend Julez Smith, so it remains unclear who her current beau is.

According to TMZ, the 22-year-old actress's domestic violence case has been rejected as prosecutors cited insufficient evidence to move forward.

Jackson was arrested last week after she was seen fighting with her boyfriend at Universal CityWalk. Officers promptly responded to the scene and detained the couple as video evidence showed her pushing her boyfriend.

However, the case will go no further as there's reportedly not enough evidence to bring it to trial, with the L.A. County District Attorney's Office telling the news outlet that they'll not be filing charges because Jackson has no criminal record and also the alleged victim sustained no injuries and has refused to cooperate with prosecutors.

Little is known about Jackson's boyfriend, as she's chosen to keep him off social media; however, she recently shared a selfie with a mystery man on Snapchat on Monday, three days after she was arrested.

Jackson has always kept her relationships out of the public eye, as she did with her alleged romance with Solange Knowles' son, Julez Smith.

At the time, fans weren't sure if they were together, with their breakup only becoming public news when screenshots of Smith's chats about her with his friends surfaced online.

In the chats, he claimed that they had dated, but he ended it after finding out that she cheated.

Smith insinuated he had taken revenge on the former Disney child star, a claim many suspected was a reference to the explicit sexual video of Jackson that went viral online.

He allegedly wrote at the time, "I made sure to ruin her life."

At the time of her arrest, the couple denied getting physical with each other despite the video evidence and reportedly told law enforcement that they were happily engaged and expecting a baby.

She was still arrested and cited for misdemeanor domestic battery but was released a few hours later.

When Netizens learned she was expecting a baby, they took to social media to share their reactions, with many expressing shock.

A user wrote on X, "Just woke up and [saw] Skai Jackson was arrested, plus she's pregnant and engaged??? See what happens when Jessie stops babysitting these children. It's a mess."

Another user said, "Whoa, that's crazy! I had no idea she was going through all of that. Pregnancy and engagement are already huge life changes, let alone dealing with a run-in with the law!"

A third person wondered, "Not only did Skai Jackson get arrested for domestic violence, but she's engaged and pregnant?"

Meanwhile, some fans didn't believe the pregnancy report, with one writing, "Now y'all know she was probably just saying that so the police leave them alone."

The actress has yet to confirm the pregnancy reports publicly.

Since her time as a Disney child star ended, Jackson has been involved in several controversies.

According to the Daily Mail, she was embroiled in an extremely public fallout with her "Jessie" costar, Debbie Ryan, in 2014.

At the time, a fan disclosed that Jackson was posting several unsettling messages about Ryan on a private account.

The fan reached out to Ryan privately and told her that Jackson was spreading rumors that she "did drugs," which left her furious.

When she found out, Ryan responded with a scathing post, branding Jackson as "insecure," "bitter," and "unprofessional."

Jackson also got into an online beef with Bhad Bhabie after she confessed that she wanted to date the "Gucci Flip Flops" rapper's ex-boyfriend.

The actress ended up filing for a restraining order against Bhad Bhabie, claiming she was afraid to leave her home alone due to being threatened.

In the court documents obtained by E! News, Jackson said that "the harassment has caused me to be fearful of leaving my house by myself, and lack of sleep."

Jackson also came under fire last year when she decided to host a raffle draw for her followers and charged an entry fee that some thought was too high.

She was accused of "scamming" her followers and using the money for herself, but Jackson has since denied the allegations.
