The court has sided with Tyrese Gibson twice in his restraining order drama; however, the second ruling was his ex-wife's fault.
For months, the "Fast & Furious" star has been embroiled in a nasty legal conflict with his former wife, Norma Mitchell. However, her plans to thwart him with a protective order failed due to her non-appearance in court.
Tyrese Gibson began the legal drama in April with scathing allegations against his ex-wife. She fired back with a defamation lawsuit followed by a restraining order, claiming he used his popularity to smear her.
Norma Mitchell Suffers Second Loss In Her Legal Battle With Tyrese Gibson
According to new reports, a judge dismissed Norma's plea for a restraining order against Tyrese at a hearing on Monday, August 12. The hearing held in Los Angeles received no response from the actor's ex-wife.
Tyrese's attorney reportedly attended the hearing; however, Norma did not appear. It was unclear if she had a lawyer representing her, but In Touch noted the judge saw her non-appearance as grounds for dismissal.
This marked the second time the court has denied Norma's request, as her initial plea for a temporary restraining order was refused. The recent August hearing was set to decide on a permanent protective order, which she similarly lost for not showing up.

Norma's restraining order journey began in May, with legal documents obtained by The Blast revealing she bashed Tyrese for running a smear campaign. She accused her ex of repeatedly criticizing her on social media over their legal disputes.
The aggrieved ex-wife cited five dates, "April 30, May 1, May 2, May 6, and May 7," stressing that her daughter, friends, family, and millions of others were privy to sensitive and false information. Her allegations continued with claims of emotional harm.
According to Norma, Tyrese's "public cyber harassment campaign" on his Instagram page and other social media outlets caused her emotional damage. She claimed their daughter Shayla was similarly distressed by his actions and implored the court to step in.
"Please order Tyrese to stop this and to take down his abusive posts and our private information," Norma's plea read. She also wanted her ex to stop making derogatory comments about her and to stay away from their daughter.
Tyrese's Ex-Wife Had Several Demands
Besides banning Tyrese from coming near her and their daughter, Norma implored the court to make him pay for her therapy. She wanted $22,280, which covered 104 weeks of therapy sessions, and $12,480 for other treatments.
She begged the court to stop her ex-husband from airing their child custody issues publicly on Instagram and the parenting app Our Family Wizard. Norma also asked for the removal of his Google Drive file.
Tyrese shared a link to the file on his Instagram bio, leading his followers to a copy of the legal motion he filed against Norma in April. She first highlighted the existence of the file in her defamation lawsuit, claiming:
"The 176-page Motion contains Mitchell's private and confidential information, including their daughter's full name, the name of her high school, birthdate, and address."
Tyrese Claimed He Was 'Still Living In Fear' Of His Ex-Wife
Norma's restraining order request came at the heels of Tyrese's display of emotional distress on Instagram. The Blast reported he shared a sad video of himself, looking on the verge of tears, alongside a lengthy message.
"I'm in a dark place, and I hope and pray [prayer hands emoji] I don't stay in this place for long," Tyrese lamented in the video's overlay text. He explained why he looked depressed in the post's caption, writing:
"Just to name a few….Still living in fear of my ex [ Norma ] and what new vile sh-t she's going to once again say or accuse me of in response to my 167 pages filed in the courts [ link in bio ]."
Tyrese Gibson Slammed Norma Mitchell In A Heated Post
The drama between Tyrese and Norma began in April when he shared the link to a motion he filed against her. He also doubled down on his ex-wife's alleged toxicity in the caption, claiming, "Everything in these court docs has real receipts attached."
The TV personality accused Norma of various crimes, including "blackmail, extortion, defamation, death threats, tax evasion," and multiple acts of forgery. He also stressed that his days of suffering in silence and fear were over.
The dismissal of Norma Mitchell's restraining order request must have left a smug smile on Tyrese Gibson's face. However, he has yet to respond to his small victory.
