Selena Gomez In Plunging Swimsuit Shamed For 'Packing On Weight'

Selena Gomez's fans were already well aware of her autoimmune Lupus condition last fall, but some still chose to body-shame her as a swimsuit selfie of hers went viral. In September 2023, the 31-year-old snapped a curve-flaunting photo, showing off her curves in a deep-cut bathing suit as she sat in front of a mirror. Rocking the fuller figure she's continued into 2024, Selena looked confident as she flaunted her stunning legs for her army of fans, but some still had to bring up her weight. When The Daily Mail reposted the snapshot, users went right for the shaming, with a popular comment saying that Selena had "packed on weight."

Rocking a structured, fitted bodice that accentuated her hourglass waistline, the "Love On" hitmaker flashed her cleavage via a low neckline, showing off her toned shoulders and a golden tan.

Posing barefoot and holding her phone with a manicured hand, Selena gazed into her phone, keeping her expression neutral as she sported her dark locks in a ponytail.

The selfie came as Selena made headlines for revealing that she'd tripped and fallen, resulting in her wearing a cast on her arm. The comments, however, were more about Selena's shape than the unfortunate accident she'd suffered.

Over 100 users upvoted a shaming remark, reading: "I don’t know what happened but she has packed on weight & become very obsessed with posting selfies. I think she is lost in life."

Quickly jumping in to defend Selena, another replied: "She has Lupus flare-ups and is posting to be positive about it." Also remarking on the singer's appearance was a fan asking: "She looks so different of late, is it weight gain or face full of fillers?"

Selena kicked 2024 off to a raw start. Sharing side-by-side photos of her bikini body in snaps taken ten years apart, the pop star said that she would "never look like this again." Of her medication, Selena separately outlined:

[When I’m taking it], I tend to hold a lot of water weight and that happens very normally,” adding: “When I’m off it, I tend to lose weight. I just wanted to say and encourage anyone out there who feels any sort of shame for exactly what they’re going through. No one knows the real story.”
