Oprah Winfrey Once Told Whitney Houston How Much She 'Disgusted' Fans

Oprah Winfrey has and will always be an incredible TV show host, but sometimes, even she is capable of being extra.
The 67-year-old has interviewed several incredible personalities; from Michael Jackson to Whitney Houston and many others.
One time, during an interview with Houston, Winfrey spoke to the singer about an article that was trending from Los Angeles Times.
The article was verbally abusive towards the singer and Winfrey sought to get a reaction from the now-late singer. Read below to find out what Houston had to say in her defense.
Whitney Houston’s Early Life
Houston was born in Newark, New Jersey, U.S. on August 9, 1963. While growing up, she began as a church choir singer, under the tutelage of her mother, Cissy Houston.
After singing in the church for a while, Houston progressed into the the music industry and landed an endorsement deal at age 19 with Clive Davis of Arista Records.
The youngster’s debut and second studio album, registered at number one on the Billboard 100. The albums also became world’s best sellers.
While she was at the peak of her music career, Houston dabbled into movies, with amazing roles in movies like “The Bodyguard,” “The Preacher’s Wife,” “Waiting To Exhale,” and so on.
A Sensational Musician
During her lifetime, Houston was a recognized and adored artist, whose music not only lifted people’s spirits, but made her a sensation throughout the world.
She was always described in the media as an angel who started out from the church and although many criticized her switch from gospel to R&B and Pop, she was was still adored by million of people all over the world.
Till date, Houston still remains one of the best musicians of all time and her tracks remain highly sought out for in different parts of the country.
In other words, Houston still remains a legend today!
Oprah Highlighted A Negative Review
Usually, when TV show hosts invite celebrities on their shows for a discussion, they want to hear everything from the good to the bad to the worst.
And sometimes, when these celebrities try to shy away from bad gossip, TV hosts find a way to lead them down that path, till they finally start talking.
In 2009, Winfrey brought a negative review to Houston’s attention, in a bid to get her response. The review from the Los Angele Times, claimed that Winfrey’s fans were disgusted by her evolving career.
“There’s a wonderful quote by the L.A. Times,” Winfrey said referencing the article.
What Was Houston’s Response?
Usually, when celebrities are trained to always keep their cool, whenever they’re backed into a corner during an interview.
However, during this 2009 interview, Houston bared her soul to her fans.
She told the host that from the moment she became ‘Whitney Houston,’ every aspect of her life, was subject to scrutiny by the public, which to her, was unfair.
She went on to explain that all she ever wanted, was to be able to go to the park with her family, without being judged. Regardless of what fans thought about her career evolving, the singer revealed to Winfrey, how much she wished she was a regular citizen.
