Singer Kehlani Accuses Ex Javaughn Young-White Of Years Of Abuse During Pregnancy

Kehlani, who uses she/they pronouns, has taken a stand against her ex-partner, Javaughn Young-White, obtaining a temporary restraining order following accusations of physical, verbal, and emotional abuse. 

The shocking development comes amidst an already contentious custody battle for their daughter, Adeya Nomi, with Young-White seeking full custody.

As the legal drama unfolds, concerns for the well-being of their child have heightened, with Kehlani now seeking protection for herself and their daughter.

According to court documents filed last week in the Superior Court of Los Angeles, the 29-year-old sought protection for themselves and their daughter after a heated confrontation with Young-White.

The filing claims that Young-White, who had been living on Kehlani's property, spends his days "smoking marijuana every day and all day," including psychedelics. 

They claim this led to years of emotional and verbal abuse, including during their pregnancy. In the documents obtained by Page Six, the mother-of-one detailed his frequent episodes of uncontrollable rage. In their words:

"When he is agitated, he cannot stop moving and throws his arms in the air while yelling and screaming at me, often throwing items and calling me horrible names."

The restraining order, which will expire after a September 3 court hearing, underscores the escalating tension between them.

Kehlani's harrowing account paints a picture of a tumultuous relationship marked by instability and fear. In the court filing, the two-time Grammy nominee cited his neglectful behavior and poor hygiene during his time with their daughter. 

She alleged that when their 5-year-old was in her father's care, she was returned "filthy and reeking of marijuana," raising serious concerns about his capacity to provide a safe environment. 

Kehlani also expressed fear for both their well-being and their daughter's, stating that Young-White's behavior "scares" them and is likely unsettling for their young child.

Despite allowing him to stay on their property at times, hoping he would fulfill promises of being a better parent, Kehlani now believes those efforts were in vain. 

Days before Kehlani filed for a restraining order against their ex, the situation between the former couple escalated as Young-White surfaced with shocking claims of his own. 

Court documents obtained by TMZ reveal that Young-White is seeking full custody of Adeya, alleging that Kehlani has been involved in a dangerous cult for several years.

The 27-year-old asserts that the cult leader, who he claims has numerous accusations of sexual assault, has exerted an unhealthy influence over Kehlani and their parenting decisions. 

He believes this involvement has caused the "After Hours" singer to restrict his access to Adeya, allegedly convincing the singer that he poses a threat to their child.

Expressing concerns for Adeya's safety, Young-White claims that the cult environment may put their daughter at risk of abuse. This is prompting him to take legal action for full custody in hopes of removing her from what he describes as a potentially harmful situation.

In 2021, while casually cooking with a friend on Instagram Live, she dropped a major bombshell, announcing, "Y'all think something's new about me, you wanna know? I finally know I'm a lesbian." 

Her friend enthusiastically joined the moment and echoed the sentiment, calling it a "bomb drop" for all watching.

The singer's revelation sent waves across the internet, particularly among fans who had followed her previous high-profile relationships with men.

Previously, the singer had been in a much-talked-about relationship with rapper YG. However, their romance took a hit when the rapper was caught kissing another woman outside an LA nightclub in late 2019. 

Despite his apology, citing intoxication, Kehlani called it quits, confirming their breakup through her song "Konclusions" in early 2020.
