When in Vegas, eat like Keith Lee!

Popular TikTok food critic Keith Lee, known for his honest food reviews, has millions of fans watching his videos to find the next great place to eat. Many of his food reviews take place in Las Vegas, his hometown.

With Vegas having an amazing variety of restaurants to choose from, it can be tough to decide where to go to eat while in Sin City, whether you're just visiting or are a local.

I thought it could be fun to try out some of the places in Vegas that Lee rated high and match up our thoughts. I decided to try Buldogis, Houston TX Hot Chicken, and Frankensons Pizzeria, and I definitely have my thoughts on each.

I remember seeing Lee’s video rating Buldogis a while back and thinking the next time I’m in Vegas, it’s a must. Fast forward to now and I’m a Vegas resident, so there was no excuse not to give it a whirl. 

I ordered takeout and got an eggdrop, tot, and cheese and my son ordered a bacon eggdrop. We also got something for dinner - a grilled chicken rice bowl with Asian slaw. I spent just under $50 with a tip. 

My son picked the food up and said the customer service was great. Everyone was friendly, and while the restaurant was busy, it was extremely organized. And actually, when I placed my order online, it said it would take 40 minutes, but before checking out, it changed to 25 minutes. About 20 minutes after ordering, I got a text that it was ready. 

First thing I noticed is the portion size is big! The egg was cooked to perfection and there wasn’t a thing about it that I would change. The bread was unbelievably flavorful! Not a complaint in the house.

We ate the grilled chicken rice bowl later that evening and again, it was perfect! I literally cannot wait to go back!

Lee's original Buldogis review quickly went viral with nearly 10 million views. He tried a few different eggdrop sandwiches, a hot dog, and a bowl.

One bite into the first eggdrop sandwich and viewers knew where this review was going. Lee loved it! In fact, he loved it so much, he went back 24 hours later for more!

Many comments were about how they can't wait to try it out and others were impressed that Lee went back the following day for more. That speaks volumes in itself. And now that I've tried it, I know the feeling. I cannot wait to go back for more!

Another place Lee reviewed in Vegas that was at the top of my list to try was Houston TX Hot Chicken. This was another fabulous choice.

I would consider myself to be a bit of a picky eater. I like my chicken to be cooked a specific way and seasoned well. HHC did not disappoint! While I’m not huge on super spicy, I do like some spice, and I really think they had the right amount of hot on their medium spice.

I had medium spice chicken tenders with fries, cole slaw, and extra pickles. I also made sure to try their house sauce and their cheese sauce, which I will say, both are MUST haves! They complimented the chicken and the fries so well. 

My son had a chicken sandwich with mild spice and he said it was really good and had a lot of flavor with the perfect amount of seasoning. 

For my drink, I went out on a limb and tried something I wouldn’t normally - their cucumber watermelon lemonade and let me tell you, it was so much better than I expected. 

While it was pretty busy when we visited, the customer service was top-notch - friendly, helpful, and fast. And the price point was affordable. (I can't remember exactly how much I spent, but I know it was around $40.)

While all of Lee’s videos go viral, his review of Frankensons Pizzeria hit new heights with 54.5 million views and more than 73,000 comments. So with that being said, of course, we needed to give Frankensons a whirl. 

On the surface, Frankensons seems like your average pizzeria with a menu you would expect to find. But what you get is so much more. First off, the customer service was amazing. The owner, Frank, was there behind the counter and the most friendly person to chat with. He really seemed to want to get to know his customers and that brings about such a welcoming feeling. And it wasn't just me and my son, but also the people who arrived after us. He had meaningful conversations with everyone who walked through the door. 

We ordered most of what Lee ordered when he did his original TikTok video - lemon pepper wings with fries, a pepperoni pizza, and garlic knots. Everything was made-to-order and delicious! Besides being delicious and having amazing customer service, it was affordable. I spent around $40 and had enough food for three meals.

While waiting for my food and chatting with Frank, he explained that many mom-and-pop shops are struggling at the moment, and that includes his pizzeria. While Lee was able to bring a lot of attention to Frankensons and turn things around for them last year, Frank recently had a setback.

"I am asking for the help of the community and patrons in keeping our business doors open. Our business went viral over a year ago and customers came from all over the US to enjoy our menu. With the success, I was able to hire on several employees what was once only a family establishment. It is my true joy to be able to offer jobs, offer quality food and take pictures with my customers," Frank wrote in the description on his GoFundMe page.

"Unfortunately, due to serious medical reasons, I was hospitalized for over 3 weeks and am currently recovering. Without saying, the medical bills are far beyond the means of what I can afford. In addition, not being present during that period of time at my restaurant, it has taken an additional hit with expenses and a decrease in customers."

So far, Frank's GoFundMe has raised more than $8,000 since starting in early July.
