Jordan Rodgers and his family have been estranged from his brother Aaron Rodgers for years, but both sides haven’t hesitated to speak out about their rocky relationship.

While the exact cause of their falling out remains unclear, several factors have fueled the ongoing tension, which first came to light during JoJo Fletcher’s season of "The Bachelorette" in 2016.

Around the same time that Jordan Rodgers' hometown dates aired on ABC, Aaron Rodgers participated in a golf tournament where he was referred to as "Jordan Rodgers' brother."

While Aaron was competing in the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe back in 2016, his younger brother, Jordan, was busy finding love on season 12 of "The Bachelorette." But things got awkward when a fan in the crowd recognized Aaron in a way that didn’t sit well with the NFL star.

Aaron’s friend, Craig Rigsbee, shared the cringe-worthy moment in an excerpt from the upcoming book "Out of the Darkness: The Mystery of Aaron Rodgers," which was published in the New York Post on Tuesday, August 13.

“Someone goes, ‘Hey, are you Jordan Rodgers’ brother?’” F-cking [Aaron] looked over there and he was legitimately pi--ed off and shook his head.”

The golf tournament took place not long after "The Bachelorette" hometown dates aired, where Jordan briefly touched on his brother’s absence while introducing JoJo Fletcher to the rest of the family.

In the book, Rigsbee, who coached Aaron at Butte College back in 2002, accuses the Rodgers family of trying to ride Aaron’s "coattails" even after they cut off communication in 2014.

“They just can’t be hanging on your coattails their whole lives,” Rigsbee said. “People try to take advantage of you and pretty soon they do other sh-t, and then you get pissed off, and it’s a tough thing. Then they talk bad about you like, ‘Oh, he’s stuck up,’ or, ‘Oh, he abandoned me.’ No, he’s f-ckin’ tired of taking care of your a--.”

Rigsbee didn’t hold back, even confronting Jordan and Aaron’s older brother, Luke, about the family drama. “The only thing I ever did is, I kind of got on [Aaron’s] brothers’ a--es when they were down-talking him one time when they were in town,” Rigsbee expressed. “I said, ‘That’s enough of that sh-t. Do not say that sh-t in public, and don’t talk about it now.’”

Although the origin of their falling out is unclear, the drama has been nothing short of front and center.

Jordan appeared on JoJo Fletcher's season of "The Bachelorette," where he briefly discussed the absence of his brother when he took JoJo on his hometown date.

“My middle brother won’t be there, Aaron. Like I said, I have a great relationship with my brother Luke. Me and Aaron don’t really have that much of a relationship. It’s just kind of the way he’s chosen to do life, and I’ve chosen to stay close with my family and my parents and my brother,” Jordan explained said on the episode.

“Yeah, it’s not ideal and I love him and I can’t imagine what it’s like to be in his shoes and have the pressure he has, the demands from people that he has," he added. "Don’t have hard feelings against him, it’s just how things go right now.”

Aaron later spoke out about Jordan's decision to bring up the nature of their relationship on "The Bachelorette."

“I haven’t seen the show to be honest with you, so it hasn’t really affected me a whole lot,” the athlete told MISN 12 news in July 2016, per Us Weekly. He did say that he found it “a little inappropriate [for Jordan] to talk publicly about some family matters, so I’m just … I’m not going to speak on those things, but I wish him well in the competition.”

Jordan once expressed hope that they could patch things up someday, but that was before he took a public jab at Aaron in November 2018. The beef between the brothers escalated after Aaron announced his plan to donate $1 million to California wildfire relief efforts.

"In Northern California, where I was born and raised, the city of Paradise burned to the ground and many of the residents who got out are now displaced to my hometown of Chico across the north state,” Aaron said in a video.

Jordan quickly quipped back: “PLEASE DONATE, SPREAD AWARENESS & SEND LOVE. But when your Mom is home alone during the fires, car packed ready to evacuate, & you miss the fundamental first step of compassion; calling your parents to make sure they are safe…. Everything else just feels like an act.”
