The 2024 Paris Olympics have wrapped up, and late-night talk show host Jimmy Fallon is honoring the Games—through song!
With everything from the pommel horse guy to Raygun and the pole vaulter's bulge making headlines, Fallon’s new viral track touches on the many highlights of this year’s Olympic Games.
Set to the tune of Billy Joel's “We Didn’t Start The Fire,” Jimmy Fallon’s playful recap tune, which has since gone viral, is a hilarious tribute to the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Jimmy Fallon's Olympics Recap Song Touches On Everything From The Golden Girls To Snoop Dogg
To kick off the song, Jimmy Fallon recalled three highlights: Three German swimmers getting sick after racing in Seine River, LeBron James reppin' the USA as flag bearer at the opening ceremony, and the Golden Girls—Simone Biles, Jade Carey, Suni Lee, Hezley Rivera, and Jordan Chiles—absolutely dominating the Women's Gymnastics competition.
"It all started on the River Seine / Don't drink the water you'll need medicine
Our flag was being carried by the king, Lebron / Crossing that river like George Washington
The Golden Girls won doing twists and flips / While you pulled a muscle just watching it"
He went on to note: "[Katie] Ledecky in the pool winning every race / Had the other swimmers all making this face" as he flashed the legendary Snoop Dogg meme—shades down, jaw dropped.
Pommel Horse Guy And Pole Vaulter's Bulge Take Over The 2024 Paris Olympics
And you know Fallon didn't forget to mention Stephen Nedoroscik—aka Pommel Horse Guy—or that unforgettable moment when a pole vaulter’s bulge hit the bar.
"And the pommel horse guy, well he shook the rafters / He got two bronze and a deal with Lenscrafters
One broke the world record in pole vault / Another one didn't, but it was his own pole's fault"
Fallon also gave a shoutout to USA’s Noah Lyles snagging gold in the Men’s 100m and, of course, Snoop Dogghosting the 2024 Olympics with a surprise visit from his close friend Martha Stewart. "Noah Lyles by a hair / Snoop and Martha everywhere," he sang.
Raygun's Iconic Breakdancing Gets Highlighted
Fallon went on to sing about the adorable moment between gymnasts Alice D’Amato, who snagged gold, Manila Esposito, who claimed bronze, and 18-year-old Zhou Yaqin, who got silver, as well as the Turkish shooter whose nonchalant competition went viral.
"Bite the medal, Raise the flag / Hyperventilating dad
Eiffel Tower, eat croissant / Turkish shooter nonchalant
Water moonwalk, Holy crap / Guy in speedo, grab that cap
Steph is hitting every three / Wow she dances just like me"
As everyone knows by now, Australian breaker Raygun, born Rachael Gunn, made her Olympic debut in Paris, but it was a rough ride as she got served in all three of her breakdancing matches, taking a brutal 54-0 loss.
Her routine--which featured moves like toe touches while lying on one side, sliding across the floor, and a kangaroo-inspired jump--has since blown up on social media, with clips of her performance going viral.
Jimmy Fallon Wraps His Song By Looking Forward To The 2028 Olympics
The U.S. made history at the 2024 Summer Games, becoming the first country to snag over 3,000 Olympic medals. They crushed it in Paris with a total of 126 medals, outshining China, 91, Britain, 65, and France, 64.
At the closing ceremony, actor Tom Cruise made a surprise appearance where he performed an epic stunt which has since gone viral.
Fallon closed out his recap performance with:
"USA, we cannot lose / Oh my God, is that Tom Cruise?
The Olympics, they are done / And the USA, well you know we're number one
Au revoir and s'il vour plait / In 2028 we'll see you in L.A."
