Hollywood star Jennifer Lopez has surprised many by visiting her husband Ben Affleck's L.A. rental home over the weekend.
The former lovebirds have been living apart for months amid rumors that they plan to end their marriage.
According to reports, Jennifer Lopez's visit is not a sign of reconciliation, but she did so to spend some time with Ben Affleck's kids, whom she cares about.
Jennifer Lopez Visited Ben Affleck's Home Amid Rumors Of An 'Imminent' Divorce
According to People Magazine, Lopez spent her weekend visiting Affleck's rental home in Brentwood, Los Angeles.
While the visit might spark speculation about a possible reconciliation amid ongoing divorce rumors, a source close to the couple has clarified that this is not the case.
They shared that it was solely for Lopez to spend some time with Affleck's kids, Violet, 18, Seraphina [Fin], 15, and Samuel, whom he shares with his ex Jennifer Garner. Meanwhile, Lopez has twins, Max and Emme, 16, with ex-husband Marc Anthony.
"Just because she's not with Ben doesn't mean that she doesn't care about his kids," the insider told the publication.
They added, "She always cared about them. She spent months looking for the perfect house for their blended family last year. Now when she's back in L.A., she wants to spend quality time with them before school resumes and Violet is off to college."
Ben Affleck And Jennifer Lopez Have Rarely Been Seen Together In Recent Months
During the visit, Lopez took on her motherly role, accompanying Samuel to the mall, where they enjoyed a fun time together.
Coincidentally, one of the rare sightings Lopez and Affleck have had together in recent months was with Samuel.
In March, the trio attended a Los Angeles Lakers game against the Golden State Warriors and could be seen sitting in premium courtside seats. In June, Lopez and Affleck attended Samuel's basketball game in Santa Monica, although they did not arrive together.
While Lopez and Affleck were seen cozying up together during the Lakers game, they showed off an entirely different vibe at Samuel's basketball game.
Since then, Affleck and Lopez have seemingly avoided each other and mostly spent the summer apart doing personal things. They have also been seen separately on several occasions without their wedding rings.
Ben Affleck And Jennifer Lopez Have Concluded They 'Are Not Built For The Long Haul'
Despite the rumors, both parties have refused to comment on the status of their marriage, with Lopez choosing to ignore a question about it during a Mexican tour for her sci-fi movie, "Atlas."
At the time, a reporter had asked the actress, "Is your divorce with Ben Affleck real? What is the truth of the situation?" Lopez then replied candidly, "You know better than that."
According to insiders, the couple has already concluded that they weren't meant to be. They claimed the duo initially got "caught up in the moment" of reuniting with each other after a first failed engagement several years ago.
"They've seen things through to the end — and they know for sure now that they are not built for the long haul," a source told Page Six. "No further unanswered questions."
The source added, "They've seen all they need to see, and it's over. In the end, it's gonna be the most elaborate and expensive exercise in closure ever."
The Couple Wants A Seamless Divorce
While it is unclear when the duo will finally file for divorce officially, sources have claimed that the wait has been this long "because they want to make sure everything is seamless when they do, especially with everyone involved."
"Neither of them want this process to be rushed. They are treating the separation with as much grace, understanding, and gentleness as they can," a source told Entertainment Tonight.
The couple's key concern is avoiding a messy separation, as they hope to prevent the situation from having a negative impact on their kids.
"They want to make sure the kids are comfortable with the transition and where they are living, etcetera," the insider explained. "They don't want to make it feel like they're pulling the rug from underneath their children."
Jennifer Lopez Is Already House-Hunting In Los Angeles
Lopez recently toured a $22 million home in Beverly Hills, California, after checking out a $68 million mansion just 15 minutes away from her and Affleck's marital home, which they are trying to sell.
For the house hunt, she wore a white button-up top tucked into wide-legged, striped trousers. She completed the look with sunglasses and hoop earrings, styling her hair in a low ponytail.
The "On The Floor" singer completed the sale of her New York City apartment for $23 million. Reports claim that their lack of communication has hampered their divorce proceedings.
For his part, Affleck has already spent $20.5 million on a new home in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles.
