Tim Burton and Jenna Ortega’s partnership is a match made in (dark) heaven, as they brought fans the popular Netflix hit "Wednesday."

Burton, the mastermind behind gems like "Edward Scissorhands" and "The Nightmare Before Christmas," created, directed, and executive produced the show. Ortega became the breakout star for her role as Wednesday Addams.

Their collaboration has thrilled fans everywhere, and now Tim Burton and Jenna Ortega are set to team up once more for their upcoming film, "Beetlejuice."

Long before taking the edgy teen twist on "The Addams Family" with "Wednesday," and before taking off with Emmy nods, Tim Burton was already thinking about creating a second season with Ortega.

The two ended up meeting at Burton’s California home to brainstorm ideas. They exchanged a bit of casual conversation, though Burton isn’t exactly known for small talk. While a second season of "Wednesday" was on the horizon, there was something else to discuss first. “He pretty much just handed me a script,” Ortega told Variety. "And it was for 'Beetlejuice.'"

Technically, it was "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice," the long-awaited sequel to Burton’s 1988 camp-horror classic. Nearly 40 years in the making, the film hits theaters this month, bringing back Michael Keaton from the undead along with original cast members Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara, plus a vampy Monica Bellucci--who is now romantically linked with the "Nightmare Before Christmas" director.

Overwhelmed, Ortega thanked Burton and drove off, but her curiosity got the better of her. Just 15 minutes later, she pulled over on the Pacific Coast Highway, took in the stunning view of the ocean, and dove into the script. “Instantly I was like, ‘Oh man, they’ve done a thing here,'" she told the outlet.

Looking back on that time, she shared a little secret with fans—what the dark yet iconic director’s home is like on the inside.

“You walk in and it’s the huge throne from 'Alice in Wonderland.'” Ortega told Variety as she set the scene. “There’s a jar of eyeballs in the bathroom.” Burton is known for his collection of quirky figurines, “his little creatures,” she says he calls them.

In a Zoom interview with Variety, Tim Burton, who was in Dublin at the time, said that Ortega is “one of my favorite people to work with."

"For me, she’s different from anybody,” Burton added before describing her as a "silent movie actor."

“She’s very direct. She’s very no-nonsense, and I find that very refreshing and beautiful and artistic,” he said. “She could direct it if she wanted to. I saw, from day one, she’s very aware. She’s more aware, sometimes, than I am.”

Jenna Ortega will take on a director role for season two of "Wednesday," which is currently filming in Dublin.

At New York Comic Con last year, the "You" actress shared insights about her character and the effect she has had on audiences and fans around the world.

"She's a creepy, little freak," Jenna Ortega said of her character. "But her impact is absolutely unparalleled. I've never seen a normal person bring a group together like this, and create a family like this, and create a legacy like this, and that's just a testament that we need weirdos in the world, and they're what make the world go around."

Jenna Ortega continued, "Be weird, watch the show like do what you want to do, and another beautiful thing too, about cinema and film is it should be reflective of what the real world is, but it's a break from reality. We want to go home and, you know, leave our jobs and watch something that makes our brain turn off for a little bit and gives us adrenaline and makes us happy and makes us sad, and for a show like this."

"It has such a wide variety of characters it really does bring so much emotion and that is the intention," Ortega said. "And again, just sit back, enjoy the show. Relate, don't relate, that's your business, not mine."
