Olympic gymnast McKayla Maroney today revealed she has no choice but to undergo surgery for kidney stones that haven't budged in three weeks. The 25-year-old vault queen made headlines in February for being rushed to the E.R. in "severe pain," with the late-night visit eventually bringing a CT scan confirming a kidney stones diagnosis. McKayla took to Instagram for her 1.3 million followers ahead of the weekend to announce that, regretfully, she now has to return for more treatment. Check it out below.

Scroll for the video. McKayla's Friday stories, showing her indoors and in chic pants and a tight top for an all-tan look, kicked off with smiles, but McKayla announcing she has to have surgery next week Wednesday came with a sad face emoji.
Quickly following the no-speech selfie action, McKayla updated with more videos, ones seeing her say: "Yes guys, I'm getting surgery to remove the kidney stones. They have not moved in three weeks and I thought I would be able to take care of it on my own, but...huh.."
Maroney, who seemed to be showing signs of recovery with her weekend French fries and miniskirt post last week, sighed, adding:"Yeah, it's just time to get surgery." The gymnast added that she really "didn't want to get surgery," saying that it takes "such a toll on your body," but it looks like the California native has no choice in the matter. "Yeah, I guess it's time," she continued, then thanking her fans for all their well wishes and support amid her troubles. See her E.R. visit below.

McKayla first mentioned her kidney stones at the end of last month, with photos of her trip to an Orange County, CA E.R. documented on her Instagram. Also posting a shot of herself with closed eyes and in a hospital gown, McKayla told fans:
"Tuesday I was throwing up all day, with severe pain in my back and stomach," adding: "Had to come to the ER at 3am because pain kept getting worse, and I couldnt' stop throwing up. Just got by CT Scan back. I have a few kidney stones." See more photos below.

McKayla has been very busy on Instagram since her E.R. visit, posting both to her main account and her lesser-known Glohé wellness feed. Discussing her acne past and food, Maroney has been talking tomatoes and coffee, with the post just before the hospital trip seeing her discuss the importance of wearing sunscreen.
McKayla blogs about everything from good and fitness to health on her Instagram. Fans are likely wishing the beautiful gymnast all the best ahead of her surgery next week.
