Britney Spears is currently front-page news for a skimpy Starbucks run, one marking the 39-year-old's first public sighting since The New York Times released its "Framing Britney Spears" documentary earlier this year. On Tuesday, the pop princess was photographed during a rare outing and flanked by one of her sons and 27-year-old boyfriend Sam Asghari, with the "Toxic" singer having chosen trusty Seattle-based chain Starbucks. Britney was seen carrying her beverage while crossing a parking lot, but did she pay for it? Check it out below.

Scroll for the photos. Britney, who lives in her L.A. mansion and is rarely seen outside of it, was looking carefree, casual, and definitely summer-ready. The Grammy winner, wearing tiny white shorts, an aqua hoodie, plus matching Birkenstock sandals, was all ponytail and face mask as she kept COVID-safe. As to her beverage, well, it was the cheapest thing Starbucks offers.

Britney was not seen with an official drink. Instead, the singer was seen carrying a Starbucks tumbler with iced water.

While boyfriend Asghari appeared to have opted for an ice tea, Britney had gone even more basic. Fans are now likely wondering whether the outing cost Britney anything. Plain tap water is generally offered free of charge to a non-paying Starbucks customer, with countless baristas confirming this online.

"I work at Starbucks. We will give you free water with ice in a grande cup unless you ask without ice or in another size," a Quora user wrote last year, adding:

"We do not charge for water."

Britney's outing, seen here – and you can scroll for more photos – comes as the singer continues to remain silent on both "Framing Britney Spears" and her legal battles. Britney is fighting out 68-year-old dad Jamie Spears amid her 2008-commenced conservatorship, having just recently filed a fresh bid to free herself.

Britney also this week posted fashion-centric content, offering her 28.8 million Instagram followers a low-key home fashion show. Referencing popular HBO series "Sex & The City," Britney wrote:

"I haven’t even taken you guys into my closet … so DUH … we technically haven’t even met ????‍♀️ !!!! Here’s a little treat for ya ? …. I’ve been watching waaaaay too much Sex In The City and I was inspired to model some of my coats ??? !!!! "
