Body Cam Footage Of NeNe Leakes Son Bryson Impersonating Brother During Arrest Released

NeNe Leakes' son Bryson Bryant failed to be totally transparent with cops during his 2023 arrest, and the evidence is out.

The 34-year-old was caught in possession of drugs, and body cam footage shows he pretended to be his younger brother Brentt Leakes as he was taken in for possession of a harmful substance.

Local authorities arrested NeNe Leakes' son,Bryson Bryant after residents notified them that they saw him lurking around in the early hours of the morning.

The reality star's son's conversation with the police was recorded in bodycam footage, which showed him lying about his identity during his arrest. Bryson was taken into custody on July 3, 2023, and when the cops asked for his last name, he mentioned it as Leakes.

He then declared his first name was Brentt and indicated his birthday as February 20, 1999 — Brentt's birthday is February 22, 1999.

After receiving a call about Bryson's suspicious movement in the neighborhood, the police also confirmed seeing a bag of white powder in his parked car.

A quick test confirmed the substance was fentanyl, but Bryson feigned innocence about his knowledge of the powder as fentanyl.

In Touch shared that Bryson was then arraigned with an additional charge of giving a false name to officers with his drug possession charge.

The 34-year-old spent a few months behind bars after the arrest. His arrest also led to another probation violation case. Bryson reiterated his innocence to the charges from his 2023 arrest, and in April this year, he entered a plea deal to avoid additional jail time.

He was sentenced to 12 months of probation and a heavy fine. Coupled with this, Bryson must submit random drug test results and undergo evaluation or treatment for drug abuse.

His attorney, Dominko C. Rumph, revealed that Bryson's criminal case was settled in May 2024 after he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of providing a false name.

Rumph stated that upon review of the evidence presented by the state, "it was determined that police likely did not have reasonable articulable suspicion to conduct the traffic stop that is shown in the body camera footage."

While Rumph stated that Bryson's legal team was aware of his statements, as shown in the body camera footage, they insisted that they "had no bearing on the ultimate resolution" of his case.

"Mr. Bryant is not a witness in any ongoing criminal matters nor are we aware of any subsequent investigations, arrests, or prosecutions conducted in connection with the statements made by Mr. Bryant during his interaction with police," he concluded in his statement.

The reality star did not mince words on her son's arrest. She spoke about it on Carlos King's podcast and shared that they spoke on the phone and he was doing "OK."

Leakes continued that the 34-year-old needed rehabilitation and a lot of counseling. She likened her situation to that of many families out there and declared:

"I have family members that are struggling with drugs and certain addictions. He has an addiction. He's been struggling with it for years. He's been in rehab for a couple of times and he still has come back out and relapsed."

However, as a mother, Leakes shared that her hands are tied, and there is not much she can do, even though she has spent a lot of money to get help for Bryson. She added:

"But every time I've sent him off is because I said, 'You are getting your ass up and we are sending you off.' But I learned through counseling myself that he has to say, 'I'm ready to go,' not me making him go. So until Bryson is ready to make a change, [there's] nothing I [can] do."

Leakes has gone through rollercoasters with both of her sons. Just last year, Brentt suffered a serious health issue and remained in the hospital for months.

The superstar informed the public about her son's condition, and The Blast gathered the sickness was a "congestive heart failure and a stroke."

She expressed her concerns that he was really young for something like that to happen to him, but did not let it deter her from sharing his recovery process with her fans.

Leakes uploaded a second video of her son looking healthy and walking towards her in the hospital hallway with cheers in the background.

In a later post, Leakes praised God for the miracle and showed slides of Brentt walking towards the hospital lift on his own, talking, and lying on a hospital bed wired to him.

Everyone needs a shoulder to lie on, and the Bravo star is not an exception, especially with her son's troubles. Three months after her comments on Bryson's addictions, The Blast shared her plans to consider entering an open marriage.

Leakes expressed this in an episode of her "LifeofNene" YouTube series. She noted that her experience while filling out a medical form and being unable to think of an emergency contact made her sad.

The encounter brought back memories of her late husband, Gregg Leakes, and she immediately thought about finding a partner.

"Maybe we will have an agreement that this person would be there for me, and I would be there for them during hard times or medical times or something like that," she declared.

However, she added an interesting clause that would keep the lucky man as her lifelong partner, and it was the idea of an open marriage. According to Leakes, her partner "will see whoever he wants to see," while she also enjoys the same prerogative.
