Kesha Doubles Down On Making Diddy Lyric Change Permanent In 'TiK ToK' For Its 15th Anniversary

Kesha is no longer waking up feeling like P. Diddy, and she wants that lyric completely abolished.

The "Joyride" singer has been vocal about standing against the embattled rapper in light of his sexual abuse lawsuits. Now, she plans to immortalize her opinions about him in the remake of her debut single, "TiK ToK."

Kesha gained international recognition for the hit track in 2009 when it was released as the lead song for her debut studio album, "Animal." However, its opening lyrics changed from honoring Diddy to bashing him.

The singer-songwriter announced her plans to remake "TiK ToK" on X, reflecting on how she had changed since dropping the Billboard chart topper 15 years ago. Part of her transition includes her feelings about Diddy.

She first slammed the disgraced Hip-hop mogul during Reneé Rapp's festival in April, altering the "Wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy" lyrics to "Wake up in the morning feeling like f—kP. Diddy."

Kesha doubled down on this immutable change in her tweet, writing, "I absolutely love the new lyric change. (Shout out to @reneerapp) Yes, it is permanent." She continued:

"I will re-record it when I have legal rights to! Now, my first baby stands for so much. It stands for fiercely protecting my fun and unadulterated joy, in myself and in others."

Kesha began her tweet with a candid reflection on the creation of her debut single and her mindset at the time. "TiK ToK was the first single that I put into this world that had my voice AND my name credited!!!!" she explained, adding:

"I remember making it fun and happy because that's how I felt and wanted others to feel. What I'm so proud of is that's how this song STILL makes me feel, through it all, and those are emotions I want all of us to connect to."

Kesha continued: "15 (!!!!!!) years later, I see this song as a snapshot into the way I saw the world at the time. That girl was naive and wild and playful. This song eternalizes a side of myself that I love very much, and now see I have to protect fiercely."

For Kesha, removing Diddy's homage was the best way to protect "TiK ToK" and keep it special to fans amid the rapper's viral abuse lawsuits. "The world has changed so much, and so have I," she noted, adding:

"The whole ride has been absolute insanity, but the JOY is still riding. I hope you all can find 3 1/2 minutes of play in this song and connect with your wild child-like joy."

Kesha's words resonated deeply with fans, who applauded her decision to abolish Diddy's tribute in her song. "This makes me so happy. Happy 15 years," an X user penned, while another chimed:

Before announcing her plans to change "TiK ToK's" lyrics, Kesha surprised fans at Reneé Rapp's festival in April with the 'f—k Diddy" line. When asked if this would be a permanent change, she proudly said "yes."

"Yes, it will be [permanent]. The fans should learn it for my upcoming [shows]. I want to hear it louder than ever. I stand by that," Kesha declared, per Billboard, adding:

"I'm not the kind of person that shuts the f-ck up. I know what I stand for. I know my integrity is rock-solid, so I speak the truth. The industry can kinda, like, suck my d-ck."

Given fans' excitement for Kesha's "TiK ToK" remake, the song may return to trending charts when it eventually drops.
