Simone Biles is undoubtedly the GOAT in gymnastics; however, she also has bad days.
The artistic gymnast opened up about how she became a reserve for the bar finals in the 2024 Olympics. She revealed her body gradually "shut down" amid the games, a situation that may be linked to her trauma.
Simone Biles has been vocal about her mental health after she withdrew from the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo due to "the twisties," a temporary loss of air awareness while performing twisting routines.
Simone Biles Reveals Her Body Was In A Poor State Ahead Of Her Final Games
Although Biles recorded the video before her final two events in the Paris Games, she didn't share it on Tiktok until Tuesday, July 7. She filmed her preparations for the bar event, guiding fans through her makeup routine.
"Get ready with me to not compete in bar finals. And what I mean by that is I'm a reserve for bars. So the top 8 compete in each event in finals, and I'm in 9th. So I'm in the 1st reserve. So I still have to prepare and get ready," Biles began.
She noted her mood was down because she loves participating in bar events; however, earning the reserve position seemed linked to her body's poor state. "I'm really tired," Biles confessed, adding:
"I feel like my body is slowly starting to shut down. Like, it's ready to be done. But tomorrow, I compete in the last two finals there are for women's gymnastics."
"I will be doing beam and floor. So excited about never doing a floor routine again. It just hits different," Biles continued, reflecting on how far she has come since withdrawing from the 2020 Olympics.
