'RHOD' Star Dr. Tiffany Moon On Being First Asian Housewife

Dr. Tiffany Moon joined host Gayle Guyardo on WFLA's BLOOM this week, where she opened up about her upbringing before looking back on her debut season of "The Real Housewives of Dallas" and discussing her career in the medical field.

After Guyardo pointed out that Dr. Moon was raised my tiger parents, the anesthesiologist confirmed the news and admitted that she's the same kind of parent to her two girls.

"That tiger gene may have been propagated into myself because now I've turned into a tiger mom for my six-year-old  twins. So I guess there's a genetic component there," she shared.

According to Dr. Moon, she feels great about her new role on "The Real Housewives of Dallas," especially after coming to the cast as the first medical doctor and the first generation Asian American to star on the series in a full-time role. 

"I think that I have an interesting story and I hope to share it with others and inspire and educate," she said.

As for her first moments with her cast mates, Dr. Moon admitted to going through "some growing pains" as she attempted to establish herself amongst the group.

"I guess, being the new girl, which is like being the new kid at school, there's a certain amount of, I would say, not hazing, but you have to sort of demonstrate who you are and try to fit in with ladies who already know each other well. And so there's some tests and hoops you have to jump through," Dr. Moon explained.

As for her kids' futures, Dr. Moon revealed her twin girls are very different in terms of what they hope to do as women.

"My younger twin says she does want to be a doctor like mommy when she grows up but the older one, if you ask her what she wants to be right now, she says she wants to own a food truck. Her goal in life is to own a food truck. So I told her it better be a very good food truck," Dr. Moon laughed.

When Dr. Moon was then asked about her time working as a doctor over the past year amid the coronavirus pandemic, she admitted that she never thought the pandemic would last so long. 

"It's been incredibly difficult. I can't believe it's been a year since we first had the cases of coronavirus hit the United States. If you had told me then that this was going to last a year, I think I would have purchased more wine. I thought it was going to be a sprint and it was not. It has turned out to be a marathon," she stated. 

While Dr. Moon has certainly been busy in recent months, she said the pandemic actually invigorated her career. 

"As a frontline healthcare worker, I've learned so much about myself and it's actually reinvigorated my original intent to go into medicine because I'm like, 'These are the times when people need us the most.' It really re-energized me. I'm all in," she confirmed.
