Stephen Nedoroscik, aka the "pommel horse guy," has taken the world by storm after competing in the men's gymnastics team finals at the 2024 Paris Olympics last week.

Following a whirlwind week of unexpected internet stardom, Nedoroscik achieved a historic milestone by becoming only the second American man in four decades to medal in the pommel horse event at the Paris Games.

After securing the bronze medal in the pommel horse finals at Bercy Arena, Stephen Nedoroscik revealed if he would be returning to the Olympic Games in four years.

Stephen Nedoroscik, who has also been dubbed the nicknames Clark Kent and Captain America, took to Instagram on Sunday to thank his fans and supporters.

"My Olympic Games is complete and what a journey it’s been," he began. "We came here on a mission to put USA Men’s Gymnastics back on the map and with the first team medal in 16 years [and] I think we’ve accomplished just that."

"My goal was to be the best for my team and I found myself lucky enough to perform in the Pommel Horse final," Nedoroscik continued. "Without a doubt the most stacked Pommel Horse final in history, and I managed to grab a piece of the podium placing third at my first Olympic Games."

Will Stephen Nedoroscik Return To The 2028 Olympics?

The 25-year-old pommel horse "specialist" on the U.S. men's gymnastics team then revealed if he would return to the Games in four years.

"Thank you to everybody who has supported me throughout my journey. I am just a man shaped by those who surround me, I couldn’t have done it without any of you," he wrote. "Onto the next chapter… #2028."

His post received over 1,200 comments and over 80k likes, including from former gymnast Carly Rae Patterson. "I am beyond excited for what you did and accomplished at this Olympics but even more proud of the character you have shown throughout the games," she commented on Nedoroscik's post. "You are a Class act, teammate, and person. I am proud to have you represent our sport and country."

Plus, New York Times bestselling author Harlan Cohen, wrote, "Thanks for representing! You did more than accomplish your goal. Congrats!!!"

Fans Rally Behind Captain America

Many social media users rallied behind the 25-year-old, thanking him for his realness and inspiration. "You have quite literally become America's sweetheart, and I'm living for it," one user wrote.

"Thanks for skyrocketing gymnastics the way you did, Captain America!" another said.

"Our absolute favorite!" a third wrote. "You are an amazingly talented gymnast, AND you’re setting a phenomenal example for kids everywhere!"

"Such an inspiration! My is visually impaired and we are a Penn State Proud family! WE ARE!!! You ROCK!!!!!!!! Thank you for sharing your story and gifts with us!" a fourth said.

Stephen Nedoroscik's Rise To Fame

On July 29, Nedoroscik not only secured a spot on the team but also delivered a crucial performance in the team's final rotation, sealing Team USA's first Olympic medal in the pommel horse event in 16 years.

His distinctive look—complete with glasses and a knack for solving Rubik's Cubes—quickly captivated the internet. "I've just been consistently on top of this world for the last week now," Nedoroscik said at a news conference Saturday. "I literally had to go and turn off my notifications yesterday because I needed to lock in for this competition."

Gold medalist Rhys McClenaghan of Ireland also spoke out about his competitor, expressing, "(I) love the amount of kudos he's getting for the team finals results and I absolutely love that everyone's like finding out about Stephen Nedoroscik."

Memes About Stephen Nedoroscik Go Viral

In memes and social media posts, Nedoroscik has often been compared to Clark Kent, the nerdy alter ego of Superman, and celebrated as an American hero. "I'm glad that people are making memes of me. I think it's so funny," he said after seeing the viral post. "It's almost surreal to finally wind down after a day of workout and go on TikTok and see someone made a meme of me."

An eyewear brand quickly signed him to an endorsement deal, and he even solved a Rubik's Cube on NBC's cameras.

The bad news? He has a girlfriend. Sorry, ladies.
