On a recent episode of her "misSPELLING" podcast, Spelling revealed to guest William Shatner, 93, that she's contemplating launching an OnlyFans account to help cover college costs for her five kids, Liam, 17, Stella, 16, Hattie, 12, Finn, 11, and Beau, 7, whom she shares with ex-husband Dean McDermott, 57.

During their conversation about co-parenting, Shatner mentioned the looming expenses of higher education for her kids, stating, "So you've got numerous children going to school and university whence they will eventually go to, I'm here to tell you is inordinately, I mean, it's just crazy."

Spelling responded, "'I'm gonna have to go on OnlyFans in order to get them into college."

When Shatner asked her to explain what OnlyFans is, Spelling said, "So OnlyFans is a site I guess, originally, it was more women in the field - not sex workers - but along those lines, but now actresses do it."

Shatner sought clarification on the nature of the content on the platform, saying, "When you say not sex workers, but along those lines, they're either are or they're aren't."

He added, "They're either putting out, or they're not putting out. They're putting out, they're looking for sexual adventures - yes?"

Spelling highlighted how OnlyFans has evolved to accommodate content creators from various fields.

"It's changed a lot," she explained, per the Daily Mail. "Now there's comedians on and there's chefs on, and it's videos, and people pay, it's like, you could subscribe, but a lot of actresses do it now, and they show things."

She elaborated, "So if you're on in a bikini or something revealing, if people subscribe and they pay more, they can get, like, a shot of you with your breast showing."

When Shatner asked if performers could post fully explicit clips, Spelling confirmed, "If you want to, you can choose to do that."

In January 2023, Spelling discussed her curiosity about OnlyFans during an appearance on "Jeff Lewis Live" on SiriusXM, revealing that she subscribed to an account created by her friend, actress Denise Richards, using a pseudonym.

Spelling shared that she spent around $400 on Richard's platform in two days.

"I was just kind of fascinated by the whole OnlyFans, and I'm not gonna lie, I was like, 'Let me check it out - what does it entail?'" she explained, per the Daily Mail. "So I looked at it, and of course, it shows something, and unless you subscribe, you can't get it."

Spelling continued, "So, of course, I subscribed under a fake name. It's riveting because they're like, 'Hey, we might show you this in this shower.' And I just want to see. It's my friend. Like, 'Hey, how far is she going?'"

She continued, "They say, allegedly, if you tip them, they get back to you faster. So, I was like, 'Hey, love what I'm seeing. Would love to see some more.' I ended up, in the course of two days, spending $400. I couldn't stop. So I kept tipping her - but I didn't want her to know it was me in the DMs."

Spelling's possible shift to OnlyFans follows a series of well-known financial struggles, including stays at budget hotels and RV parks in Ventura County, California, amid financial difficulties last year.

In April, Spelling mentioned on her podcast that she had to hold an estate sale in 2016 to settle an $80,000 bill for 50 storage units she couldn't afford during a period when she was "broke."

A source also told DailyMail last year that Spelling was experiencing financial difficulties and considering a return to reality TV.

"Tori is caught between a rock and a hard place right now as she is trying to figure out what her next job is going to be," the source said. "She is looking into doing some more in the reality competition show world."

Spelling's financial troubles come amid her divorce from her husband, Dean McDermott. The former couple called it quits on their marriage of eleven years and are now in the process of legally separating.

Spelling demanded spousal support in her divorce documents while asking the court to stop McDermott from requesting spousal support from her.

However, in McDermott's court filing, he also seeks spousal support from his estranged wife.

The actor wants the court to grant him joint custody of their five kids, unlike Spelling, who requested sole custody of the children.
