Justin Timberlake made a virtual court appearance on Friday for his arraignment after being charged with a DWI in June during a night out with friends.

The singer's attorney had claimed that his superstar client was not under the influence at the time of his arrest in an attempt to get the case dismissed.

However, during the latest hearing, Justin Timberlake's lawyer withdrew his motion to dismiss the case and was threatened by the judge with a gag order.

During the Friday hearing of his ongoing DWI case, Sag Harbor Village Justice Carl Irace officially suspended Timberlake's driver's license as the singer pleaded not guilty to the revised misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated.

According to Deadline, the next court hearing has been set for next week, Friday, August 9, where Timberlake may be compelled to appear in person.

Judge Irace also warned Timberlake's lawyer, Edward Burke Jr., that he risks getting a gag order due to his comments outside the court, which come off "as an attempt to poison the case before it even begins."

Timberlake appeared virtually in court because he is currently busy with his "Forget Tomorrow World Tour."

The singer has two performances scheduled for tomorrow, August 3, and Sunday, August 4, in Antwerp, Belgium. Between August 7 and 12, he'll return to the UK for a four-legged tour stop in London, Birmingham, and Manchester.

Timberlake reportedly refused to check into rehab and instead channeled his attention towards his tour, even cracking up his audience with jokes about his arrest.

If convicted of the misdemeanor, he could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $2,500.

Timberlake's attorney, Burke, argued for the case to be thrown out after he claimed that the "Sexyback" singer was not intoxicated at the time of his arrest. However, Timberlake told the officer that he "had one martini and followed his friends home."

According to reports, Burke claimed that the cops made serious errors in the case and filed a motion to dismiss on the grounds of a procedurally "defective" criminal complaint filed by the cop who arrested Timberlake.

He also claimed that the "young," "part-time" officer's interaction with Timberlake wasn't signed off by a supervising officer.

"The most important thing we have to say today is obviously that Justin should not have been arrested for driving while intoxicated," Burke told reporters at the last court hearing. "The police made a number of very significant errors in this case, and you heard the District Attorney try to fix one of those errors just this morning upstairs in court."

He added that Timberlake "cooperated with the police officers from the second he was ordered out of his car to the second he was discharged on June 18" by Sag Harbor Justice Carl Irace.

A DA's office spokesperson then responded to Burke's claims of police mistake, telling the news outlet that "a ministerial error" discovered by prosecutors in the initial criminal complaint was corrected; however, "the facts and circumstances of the case have not been changed or amended."

Burke's argument seemingly contradicted the claims made in the charging documents, which showed that Timberlake's eyes were "bloodshot and glassy" and that a "strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath."

He reportedly refused to take a breathalyzer test three times and performed poorly during the field sobriety test.

Sag Harbor Village Police Chief Robert Drake released a statement at the time, noting that Timberlake "failed to stop at a duly posted stop sign" and also failed to "maintain his lane of travel."

The statement revealed that cops then initiated a traffic stop, and investigations determined that the singer "was operating his vehicle in an intoxicated condition."

Drake added, "Mr. Timberlake was placed under arrest, processed, and held overnight for morning arraignment. Mr. Timberlake was arraigned at the Sag Harbor Village Justice Court on June 18, 2024, at 9:30 AM, where he was released on his own recognizance."

Law enforcement seemingly shot themselves in the leg after a recent revelation suggested that they permitted a drunk pal of his to drive his car home.

According to TMZ, a source revealed that the "Cry Me A River" singer was following another car that had an unidentified woman and her husband in it. The woman reportedly came back to the scene of his run-in with the cops to understand what the situation was, where she allegedly asked one of them if he was "going to arrest Justin Timberlake?"

Seeing that the cops remain unperturbed by her attempt to somewhat plead on his behalf, she asked for permission to take his rental car home, to which they obliged. The insider went on to reveal that the said woman was drunk and had arrived at the American Hotel 2 hours before Timberlake.

The news outlet claims that Timberlake's attorney could argue that the two young officer's discretion was flawed, leading to an unjust arrest of the "Mirrors" singer.

According to the Daily Mail, a source close to Timberlake's wife, Jessica Biel, claimed that she was unhappy about her husband's run-in with the law at the time.

Biel was also in New York City filming her new Prime Video series, "The Better Sister," miles away from Sag Harbor, Long Island, where Timberlake was arrested.

The insider noted that Biel is "embarrassed" but hopes that the incident inspires him to reduce his alcohol intake.

She's also understood to be grateful that he's alive and came out unscathed but is afraid that something terrible may happen in the future if he doesn't control and turn a new leaf.

"Jessica is disappointed but he is her husband so she is by his side and will have his back through all of it," the tipster noted. "She would like Justin to curb his drinking, so he never gets into a situation like this ever again. She is treating it like a slap on the wrist and is hoping that it doesn't lead to anything more severe in the future."
