Sharon Osbourne is claiming that CBS executives purposely hung her out to dry during Wednesday’s episode of “The Talk.”
The outspoken host, who came under fire after a heated debate with Sheryl Underwood about Piers Morgan‘s reaction to Meghan Markle‘s Oprah interview, spoke to Variety on Friday, March 12, and said the experience felt like being “in front of a firing squad.” “I blame the network for it,” Osbourne said while accusing CBS hire-ups of having the co-hosts question her about her controversial tweet defending Morgan.
Osbourne told Variety that she was clueless about what was about to go do until eight minutes before the segment. “I get on there, I say my piece and Sheryl turns around straight-faced, looks at me and is reading from a card with questions,” Sharon said. “I was just so hurt, caught off guard and stunned by what I was being asked and not prepared. I was honestly in shock. I felt like I was in front of a firing squad. I felt like a lamb held out for slaughter. … They had me there for 20 minutes.”

When “The Talk” went to break, Sharon said she “begged them to stop, to please change subjects.” The segment ended with both Sharon and Sheryl fighting back the tears. “I’m a big girl. I’m a professional,” she said. “However CBS blindsided me. I don’t know why they did it to me. The showrunners told me it came from executives to do this to me.”
Many people felt that Piers Morgan’s reaction to Markle’s interview was filled with racial undertones. Sharon tweeted in support of her friend, and her co-hosts questioned her on why she would do that. The clip went viral, and Underwood broke her silence about the heated segment on “The Steve Harvey Morning Show.”

Underwood addressed the heated Osbourne debate on Friday, March 12, when she appeared on Steve Harvey‘s radio show. “I just wanted to be a better example for people that are working just a regular old job, that had to compose themselves,” Sheryl said when praised for handling the situation perfectly by Harvey.
“We are the only race of people that carry the race wherever we go and we’re responsible for that,” “The Talk” host said before revealing that thousands of people reached out to support her after Wednesday’s show. “And I want to thank everybody all over the world in social media, everybody in radio, television, news, everywhere, everybody that reached out, what power you had to make me understand you have matured, Sheryl Underwood. You have matured. Because I could have messed it up, couldn’t I? I could have messed it up.”
