A new book has shed light on a particularly heated exchange that occurred between Meghan Markle and Prince William.
According to a royal author, a disagreement between Meghan and Kate Middleton escalated into a confrontation with William after the Duchess of Sussex allegedly made a remark about the Princess of Wales having "baby brain."
The incident reportedly saw Meghan Markle tell Prince William to "get your finger out of my face" as he attempted to intervene in the dispute.
Why Meghan Markle Snapped At Prince William
Once speculated to be the new face of the royal family as the Fab Four, Harry and Meghan's relationship with William and Kate failed to live up to the hype, and the couple fell out of each other's good books.
The duke and duchess stepped back from their royal duties in 2020 to live in the US and further stifled relationships with William and Kate when they made several bombshell allegations against them in an interview with Oprah Winfrey and in Harry's memoir, "Spare."
According to the Mirror, in the new book, "Catherine, The Princess of Wales: The Biography," author Robert Jobson weighs in on the broken ties between the two couples and recounts a particular incident in which the former "Suits" star talked back at William.
At the time, Meghan allegedly made remarks about Kate's hormones and having a "baby brain" just after she gave birth to Prince Louis.
When the four of them sat down to clear the air, the Princess of Wales reportedly demanded an apology, stating that she and Meghan were "not close enough for you to talk about my hormones."
Not liking her behavior, William accused Meghan of being "rude" for her comments, which allegedly caused Meghan to snap at the future king, saying, "Take your finger out of my face."
Prince Harry Wrote About The Incident In His Memoir
The report in Jobson's book is strikingly similar to Harry's account in "Spare," in which he wrote that Meghan and her sister-in-law, Kate, didn't get along.
He noted that when they sat down to iron out their differences, Kate demanded an apology from Meghan, to which she did apologize, saying that it was the way she spoke with her friends.
However, everything turned sour when William chimed in and "pointed a finger at Meg" before allegedly saying, "Well, it's rude, Meghan. These things are not done here."
Harry noted that Meghan responded, "If you don't mind, keep your finger out of my face."
Meghan Markle Might Not Join Prince Harry On 'Olive Branch Trip' To The UK
All that squabble is seemingly a thing of the past as Harry reportedly intends to go on an "olive branch trip" to the UK in a bid to work on his broken relationship with his family.
Meghan will reportedly miss out on the trip as she's tied down with work and is busy with the launch of her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard.
"Harry is very anxious to go home and see his dad, catch up with his friends for his birthday in September, and also pay a visit to his aunt, Princess Anne," a source told Closer. "But the situation hasn't changed for Meghan."
The insider continued, "She's respectful that Harry has to go back to his homeland for practical and emotional reasons, but that doesn't mean she's going to go with him. She's got way too much on her plate with the brand and her new cooking show, as well as looking after the children. The last thing she needs is the stress of going back to the UK, where she fears she'd be heckled again in public, which she finds really painful."
Will Meghan Markle Ever Return To The UK?
Meghan's return to the UK is still uncertain, as Harry has insisted that he will not bring his family back to the country due to security concerns.
The couple is said to have paused their search for a new UK home amid a legal battle with the Home Office after they stripped them of their tax-funded security details.
In a recent ITV documentary, "Tabloids on Trial," the prince shared his worries about Meghan potentially becoming a victim of a "knife" or "acid" attack.
"It's still dangerous, and all it takes is one lone actor, one person who reads this stuff to act on what they have read," Harry said. "And whether it's a knife or acid, whatever it is, these are things that are of genuine concern for me. It's one of the reasons why I won't bring my wife back to this country."
King Charles Is 'Extremely Sad' About The Harry And Meghan Rift With The Royal Family
According to royal expert and author Hardman, Charles has found himself entangled in the disputes between the camps of the Waleses and Sussexes.
Despite four years passing, the situation remains challenging for the king, who is presently battling cancer.
Speaking to the Mirror, Hardman said: "Of course, the king is extremely sad about Harry and Meghan, but there is a sense of exasperation, that he has done what he can and now he is king, there are many more things to think about."
The author added that Charles has made efforts to listen and mediate but has now taken a step back, noting that "he has reached a point where he says, 'I don't want to know what the problem is. I'm just getting on with my life.'"
