Prince Harry has been embroiled in a legal battle with the Home Office ever since his security detail was downgraded after he and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped down as senior royals.
According to a report, Meghan wishes he would reconsider his ongoing legal battle and "let go" of it, as she wants him to be free of the toll it comes with.
Prince Harry reportedly believes that his father, King Charles III, can intervene in the matter, but their relationship has further soured since the monarch has distanced himself from it.
Why Meghan Markle Wants Her Husband To 'Let Go' Of His Lawsuits
As the Duke and Duchess of Sussex continue to live as non-working royals, Meghan reportedly longs for her husband to be free from the courtroom drama that has trailed him.
Harry has been fighting for the Home Office to reinstate his tax-funded police protection for himself and his family after they were stripped of it when they left their royal duties in 2020.
An ex-employee of the couple's Archewell Foundation has now told People magazine that the former "Suits" actress "supports Harry 100 percent, but she wishes he could let go of these lawsuits, be happy and live in the moment."
"She wants him to be free of all of this, but she also knows that because of everything he's been through and his love for [her and their children], he can't. She wants him to live in a world where he is not burdened by this," the source added.
Prince Harry Believes King Charles Can Help Fix His Security Problem
According to the news outlet, Harry believes King Charles can intervene and help restore his security details.
He's understood to have reached out to Charles on several occasions but the king has seemingly distanced himself from the issue, which has further strained their relationship.
Although a favorable meeting ensued between the pair when the duke made a frantic rush to see Charles upon learning of his cancer diagnosis in February, their communication has allegedly depleted as the king no longer takes Harry's calls.
"He gets 'unavailable right now,'" Harry's friend told People. "His calls go unanswered. He has tried to reach out about the king's health, but those calls go unanswered too."
Even Harry's efforts to reach out for help on his security issue have seemingly fallen on deaf ears. A royal insider told the news outlet that the father-of-two "is frightened and feels the only person who can do anything about it is his father."
However, he'll seemingly not go down without a fight. A source noted, "Harry is determined to protect his own family at all costs."
Prince Harry's Security Issue Is A Major Factor In Reunion With King Charles
Harry will seemingly sheathe his sword and mend scruffled ties with his father if he can make his security troubles go away.
According to the UK constitution, Charles has no governmental power to reinstate the duke's police protection, with that duty resting on the shoulders of the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (RAVEC).
However, Harry reportedly believes that as king, his father can intervene to make something happen.
"As a dad and husband, Harry is determined to ensure that history doesn't repeat itself," a friend of Harry told People.
Harry's friend went further to note that if the matter of security is resolved, "it's 'swords down,'" as nothing "would give [Harry] more happiness than being able to rekindle his bond with his father."
A royal insider previously told Page Six that "Charles can give Harry the security clearance he wants" as he's the "ultimate decision-maker" being the monarch.
"That would be how father and son can reconcile," the source added.
Security Experts Advocate For Prince Harry To Be Given Back His Police Protection
As Harry allegedly prepares to embark on an "olive branch trip" to the UK in an attempt to mend his broken relationship with his family, security experts have weighed in on the risk to his life, urging the UK government to restore his police protection.
"I'm an advocate for him getting police protection," Alex Bomberg, chief executive of private security firm Intelligent Protection International, told Newsweek. "I think it's something that should be reviewed."
"Has the risk level changed? No, probably not. But could they reconsider it? Should they reconsider it? Potentially yes," Bomberg continued.
"I still think he's been hard done by. Whichever way you want to look at it, he's still who he is. He's still born into the royal family," the security expert added. "In my view, it's still very difficult to make an argument against. He's not a working royal—well, the threat doesn't really go away."
The Duke Will Not Bring His Wife And Kids To The UK Until His Security Problems Are Resolved
In an interview for ITV's documentary "Tabloids on Trial," Harry voiced his concerns about his family's safety.
"It's still dangerous," the duke said, emphasizing that "all it takes is one lone actor, one person who reads this stuff to act on what they have read."
Harry continued: "Whether it's a knife or acid, whatever it is, these are things that are of genuine concern for me. It's one of the reasons why I won't bring my wife back to this country."
