Hollywood star Armie Hammer has received the support of his mother, Dru Hammer after shocking rape and cannibalism allegations derailed his career. She admitted his moral wrongdoings but insisted he was innocent of criminal actions.
Allegations from exes, including Effie Angelova and Paige Lorenze, detailed violent and cannibalistic behaviors, but Armie denied partaking in non-consensual activities.
Recently, Armie Hammer opened up about being canceled and how grateful he was for everything that has happened to him.
Dru Hammer Stands By Son After Rape And Cannibalism Allegations
During a chat with the Daily Mail, Dru boldly supported her son's claims that he never committed rape or engaged in cannibalism, despite allegations from several women.
"I would never say that Armie did everything right because he didn't," she told the news outlet. "Morally, he was wrong. But I do know my son was not out-eating people. That I know. And Armie did not rape anybody. I knew that he was not morally right, but that was insanity."
Dru shared that she felt the urge to defend her son, noting that "these girls had been in [her] home," but she chose to follow her son's advice to remain silent, trusting that "'The truth always comes out.'"
In March 2021, Effie Angelova accused Armie of "violently" raping her and causing mental, emotional, and sexual abuse over their four-year affair while he was married to Elizabeth Chambers.
At the time, Hammer's attorney stated that his client and Angelova had shared consensual fetishes and sexual desires, which were "completely consensual, discussed and agreed upon in advance."
Armie Hammer's Alleged Cannibalism Scandal Intensified By Exes
Angelova's claims were intensified by Courtney Vucekovich, another of Armie's exes, who reported that the actor once expressed a desire to "barbecue and eat" her.
Influencer Paige Lorenze, who also had a relationship with Armie, told Page Six that he used a knife to carve the letter "A" on her skin and would intentionally bruise her as a form of branding.
Leaked texts revealed the "Call Me By Your Name" star admitting, "I am 100% a cannibal... f-ck that's scary to admit" and "I've cut the heart out of a living animal before and eaten it while still warm. Totally raw. Still warm... I'd eat your heart if I wasn't stuck without you after."
Dru now claims that the scandal "unfolded" during the COVID-19 pandemic when people were "locked away," creating a "perfect storm" as the "feeding frenzy for new information was at an all-time high."
Dru Hammer Acknowledges Her Son's Wrongdoing But Denies Criminal Activity
In her recent interview, Dru admitted that she believes her son was "in the wrong" because of his status as an "older actor" and the younger age of his accusers.
"They were influencers on Instagram or whatever," she remarked. "Did he take advantage of them? Absolutely. He will say so himself."
However, Dru emphasized, "Did he commit any crimes? Absolutely not. He's been completely exonerated by the police."
Armie's ex, Lorenze, once claimed that the actor's mother warned her about her son's "demonic behaviors."
"I didn't grow up extremely religious, so that was a little bit out of touch for me, but I did get a feeling from her like she knew that he had a very, very dark side," the model mentioned on "The Dr. Oz Show" in February 2021.
Armie Hammer Did Not Face Criminal Charges
Despite the allegations levied against him, Armie did not face criminal charges.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office noted at the time that "sexual assault cases are often difficult to prove."
An official also told Page Six in May 2023, "Prosecutors conducted an extremely thorough review but determined that at this time, there is insufficient evidence to charge Mr. Hammer with a crime."
The Actor Clarifies Knife Branding Allegation: 'There Wasn't Even Blood'
Amid her defense of her son, Dru also commended Armie for his recent interview with Piers Morgan, where he admitted to branding Lorenzo with a knife but denied any rape or cannibalism allegations.
"He didn't seem nervous – he said my story is my story, he's not going to throw anyone under the bus," Dru said, per Page Six, expressing pride in his honesty. She added, "I love his frankness and honesty."
In the interview with Piers Morgan, Armie clarified his actions, stating: "I wouldn't say brand, no." He explained, "There was a scenario that we talked about beforehand, that we had discussed where, you know, I would basically take a little, tiny point and just kind of trace the letter 'A' — just like the tip of a small knife.
He emphasized, "I mean, there wasn't even blood in the situation. It was more like a scrape… It's along the lines of couples getting their own initials tattooed on each other."
