Kamala Harris channels her inner Gen Z by taking the campaign train to TikTok!
The current vice president of the United States, and likely presidential candidate of the Democratic Party for the 2024 presidential election, has arrived on TikTok amid pop, pageantry, and endorsement from various quarters.
Kamala Harris stepped into the limelight this week when presidential candidate of the Democratic Party and current president of the United States, Joe Biden, announced his decision to step down from the race.
Kamala Harris Flaunts The Obamas' Endorsement On TikTok
Harris is keeping things transparent on social media in the wake of the new development and her likely choice as the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party.
Since the announcement, influential democrats and politicians across the United States have come out to give their support to Harris, and former president Barack Obama is no exception, although his call came later than expected according to public reaction.
The video, which has gone viral across all social media platforms, shows Harris receiving a phone call from Barack and Michelle expressing their support and immense pride in the politician, describing her recent feat as "historic."
Harris gracefully replied to the couple, appreciating the friendship they have shared over the years and the encouragement the Obamas have shown her through the course of her enviable career.
The US Vice President Also Got A Nod From RuPaul
Before Obama’s blessings, the politician stopped by entertainer RuPaul’s studio, popularly called the “Werk Room,” where the famous RuPaul’s Drag Race is filmed.
Harris captioned the video, expressing her pleasure at finally visiting the spot. She exchanged pleasantries with the cast and crew of the show and even sat down for an interview session.
Harris has kept it trendy with her choice of sound clips to accompany her TikTok videos; for this particular one, the politician stuck with an original sound from “Runway Relapse.”
Her comment section was buzzing with compliments from over 7000 supporters and admirers. One user wrote, “You are the breath of fresh air that we need so desperately.” Another added: “She better win this election!!”
Something entirely different caught this commenter’s eyes as they asked, “IS THAT LANCE BASS.” This person was simply impressed by the “marketing” technique Harris’ team employed.
Harris is a combination of beauty and brains, according to a supporter who declared, “She is so d-mn pretty! We love an educated, accomplished queen.”
A Review Of Kamala Harris's TikTok Account
The former senator has gathered nearly 2 million followers on her new account and a whopping 3.1 million likes on her three videos so far.
Harris’s decision to open a TikTok account coincided with Biden’s announcement to step down from the race to the Oval Office for the second time and hand over the baton to his tested and trusted colleague.
The politician introduced her arrival on the clock app by using a popular track by Charli XCX titled “360” and a coordinating slideshow of pictures from Harris’s campaign to the artist’s neon green “Brat summer” color theme.
It is not a shocker that Harris has amassed such an impressive following within a short time, but some fans might have been wondering who the one person she has decided to give the precious gift of a follow.
The Blast does not have the answer to this as that identity is very much private, but her first post raked a mindblowing 8 million plays, and her captivating caption “When we fight, we win” adds a nice ring to the new account.
Hollywood Endorsements For Harris's Campaign
The Blast reported that various demographics, including the entertainment industry, widely accepted Biden's endorsement of the 59-year-old.
British pop sensation Charli XCX, whose soundtrack has made it to Harris's TikTok page, was one of the earliest reactors to Biden's announcement, and she expressed this on her X account by writing, "Kamala IS brat."
Ariana Grande also followed in Charli's footsteps and endorsed the politician on her Instagram Stories, including reposting Biden's endorsement of the VP and attaching a link for her fans to register to vote.
Award-winning R&B singer John Legend expressed his joy for Harris's new status and told his Instagram followers that the icon is "ready for this fight," and he is "excited to help her in any way."
More celebrities like Barbara Streisand, Mark Hamill, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Spike Lee also raised their banner in support of the "heroic development."
The Black Community Organized A Fundraiser
While a faction of her supporters held it down on social media, another faction quickly gathered to raise funds for the politician’s campaign, and the Black community reportedly raised funds within 48 hours of the announcement.
The Black Star Network founder Roland Martin was also active and co-hosted a “Black Men for Harris” call that raised $1.3 million in four hours for Harris’s campaign on Monday, July 2022, from over 50,000 people joining the stream.
Notable people on the donor list include black entertainers such as Don Cheadle, John Legend, Don Lemon, Will Packer, Cory Booker, Emil Wilbekin, politicians Raphael Warnock, and Governor Wes Moore of Maryland.
