Ryan Reynolds has often been considered to be one of the most popular men on the planet. At the age of 44, the “Deadpool” actor has become synonymous with comedy, creativity, and R-rated “Marvel” brand sensations. While not entirely a comedian, his ability to entertain even through the redundant format of digital advertisements has amazed his international fan base. Specifically regarding how he has promoted his “Aviation Gin” and “Mint Mobile” products and services.

His uncanny ability to make something like a phone service so funny and attractive has landed him the front cover of one of the biggest business magazines in the world.

This is most certainly not the first time that the “Pokémon: Detective Pikachu” actor has seen his face featured on the cover of a prominent magazine, though this is the first time he was highlighted for something other than his acting career or his sex-appeal.

The front cover of Entrepreneur Magazine had their latest interview express their admiration and respect for Ryan’s advertising practices. They pointed out that “The Proposal” actor’s marketing company “Maximum Effort” has a profound strategy that some of the biggest business brands are now flocking to employ.

What is truly fascinating about Ryan’s character (his real character) is that he previously didn’t like marketing. As an actor, he didn’t gravitate towards it originally, but now he has become an expert on the subject.

Furthermore, he told Entrepreneur Magazinethat he actually finds marketing to be one of his “great joys” in life!

“We started to look at marketing as a completely different tool we had in the shed, and something we could really tell stories with,” Reynolds said. “Everything is storytelling; if you’re not paying attention to that, then you’re just broadcasting and not engaging.”

Dancing With The Devil... No, Actually Dating Him

One of the most impressive displays of marketing prowess that Ryan recently published was for the famous dating site Match.com. Instead of approaching the advertisement as a means to show the best that could be achieved, Ryan and his marketing brand Maximum Effort chose to show love in an entirely different light.

In case the viewer hasn’t already seen the video that was created, the advertisement cleverly uses a song by Taylor Swift to set the mood, while the setting itself transitions from Hell itself into a year many people would consider its metaphorical counterpart: 2020. (And the Devil himself actually dates the physical embodiment of that year!)

'With Character'

Another reason that Ryan made the cover of Entrepreneur Magazine was that he had already been so successful with “Deadpool” and “Deadpool 2”. Many fans of those movies were never even realized how small the budget was for those movies, yet they have both become the highest-rated R-Movies ever. Ryan had the following to say about how he managed to pull it off:

“This lesson was driven home to me while shooting Deadpool. Every time the studio took money away from our budget, we replaced whatever set piece we lost with character. Eventually, that became the hallmark and defining characteristic of that property. People don’t remember [the] saving-the-world kind of nonsense. They remember what he said, or how he reacted to a moment. To me, that lesson is worth its weight in gold, because you can penetrate the zeitgeist and make an impression without spending a ton of money, without busting the bank.”
