First Lady Dr. Jill Biden has released a statement following President Joe Biden's exit from the 2024 presidential race.

As The Blast reported, earlier this week, Joe Biden announced that he is no longer seeking re-election by releasing a letter to his X account, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. “It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President," he wrote. "And while it has been my intention to seek re-election, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for one to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term."

On Wednesday, the President held his first public address from the Oval Office since dropping out of the race. Shortly thereafter, Dr. Jill Biden broke her silence, thanking Americans for their support over the years.

After Joe Biden made his first public address since backing out of the 2024 Presidential race, Dr. Jill Biden shared a handwritten note on her X account, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

“To those who never wavered, to those who refused to doubt, to those who always believed, my heart is full of gratitude,” the first lady wrote. “Thank you for the trust you put in Joe—now it’s time to put that trust in Kamala.”

President Joe Biden Announces His Endorsement For Kamala Harris (Twice)

The President of the United States shared his endorsement for Vice President Kamala Harris once in a statement shared on X and once in his first address from the White House since testing positive for COVID-19.

“My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made," Biden said in his first endorsement statement. "Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this."

On Wednesday, from the Oval Office, President Biden reiterated his endorsement, telling America, “Now, in just a few months, the American people choose the course of America’s future. I made my choice. I made my views known."

"I would like to thank our great vice-president, Kamala Harris," he added. "She experienced. She’s tough, she’s capable. She’s been an incredible partner to me and a leader for our country."

For the first time since President Joe Biden dropped out of the race, Kamala Harris held her first rally in Milwaukee.

“So, Wisconsin, I am told, as of this morning, that we have earned the support of enough delegates to secure the Democratic nomination,” she said as the crowd roared with applause. “I am so very honored. I pledge to you I will spend the coming weeks continuing to unite our party so that we are ready to win in November.”

Kamala Harris's run for the presidency in 2020 was notable for her strong positions on healthcare, climate change, and racial justice. Though she did not secure the Democratic nomination for president, she was chosen as Joe Biden's running mate and made history as the first female, first Black, and first South Asian Vice President of the United States.

“It has truly been one of the greatest honors of my life to serve as vice president to our president, Joe Biden,” she said. “Joe's legacy of accomplishment over his entire career and over the past three and a half years is unmatched in modern history."

She added. "In one term as president, he has already surpassed the legacy of most presidents who served two terms in office, and I know we are all deeply, deeply grateful for his continuing service to our nation.”
