Barack Obama Has Yet To Endorse Kamala Harris: 'He Knows She's Just Incompetent'
By Kelly Coffey-Behrens on July 24, 2024 at 7:00 PM EDT
On Sunday, President Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race. This news shouldn't come as too much of a surprise, given the recent rumors suggesting he would step down.
Shortly after the announcement, Biden said he is endorsing his Vice President, Kamala Harris, to become the next Democratic candidate--something that many others have hopped on as well, including Bill Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries.
Former President Barack Obama is notably absent from the list of people who have endorsed Kamala Harris's presidential campaign--and it seems now America knows why.
Why Hasn't Barack Obama Endorsed Kamala Harris?
According to a source close to the Biden family who spoke with the New York Post, “Obama’s very upset because he knows [Kamala Harris] can’t win."
“Obama knows she’s just incompetent — the border czar who never visited the border, saying that all migrants should have health insurance. She cannot navigate the landmines that are ahead of her," the source added. "When you are running for president, there are things you can and can’t say."
Who Would Win In A Presidential Debate? Kamala Harris Or Donald Trump?
The source also addressed a possible debate between Donald Trump and Harris, a win that they believe will go to the Republican candidate.
“Wait until the debate… She can’t debate," the source told the new outlet. "She’s going to put her foot in her mouth about Israel, Palestine, Ukraine. She’s going to say something really stupid."
“Obama knew this was going to happen, Joe knew this was going to happen," they continued. "Now she is going to have to answer real questions.”
Rumors circulated that the former president could enter the presidential race now that Joe Biden has dropped out. However, the source says Obama is “furious" because "things haven’t gone his way, which is why he is not joining in the Democratic Party’s support of Harris."
Barack Obama Thinks He Is 'The Smartest And Coolest Guy In The Room'
Another Democrat source spoke to the New York Post as well, claiming, “Obama being surprised by a smart political decision actually makes sense when coupled with his personal inability to see politics beyond his singular, immediate interests."
“Obama always thinks he is the smartest and coolest guy in the room," they added. "He’s friends with George Clooney, after all.”
Obama Releases Statement On Joe Biden's Decision To Step Out Of The 2024 Presidential Race
In his lengthy statement following Joe Biden's announcement on Sunday, Obama praised the President for displaying "character again and again" before listing all his achievements during his presidency.
"He helped end the pandemic, created millions of jobs, lowered the cost of prescription drugs, passed the first major piece of gun safety legislation in 30 years, made the biggest investment to address climate change in history, and fought to ensure the rights of working people to organize for fair wages and benefits," Obama said. "Internationally, he restored America’s standing in the world, revitalized NATO, and mobilized the world to stand up against Russian aggression in Ukraine."
Kamala Harris Breaks Silence On Joe Biden's Endorsement
While Obama has yet to endorse Kamala Harris, the current President of the United States wasted no time to show his support to the Vice President.
“My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made," he said on Sunday. ”Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year,” he continued. "Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this."
Shortly after that, Kamala Harris broke her silence, expressing, "I am honored to have the President’s endorsement and my intention is to earn and win this nomination. Over the past year, I have traveled across the country, talking with Americans about the clear choice in this momentous election."
"And that is what I will continue to do in the days and weeks ahead. I will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic Party—and unite our nation—to defeat Donald Trump and his extreme Project 2025 agenda," she added. "We have 107 days until Election Day. Together, we will fight. And together, we will win."
